In Wrath of Iron there were plenty of IG members that faced neverborn more than once...And once of those actually had a chance to run away from the battle but he didnt! And he appeared quite sane to boot!
ok..ok...1 guy...in an army of billions that actually threw enough 6's on a D6 to still count 2+2 together. You won, you beat me...I am all out of arguments.
This is what I think should have happened from the start. An Imperium faction where you chose both a SM and IG subfaction. Spawning as IG would be free, spawning as an SM would cost requisition points you earnt as a guardsman. The popularity of the space marines would ensure there would be a horde of guardsmen. I'd like to see IG in the game, but their current setup would make it awkward.
Just make a faction thats made entirely out of ogryn/bullgryn, ratlings, and vehicles. No guard, just those things.
I do not see how EC as it is now can possibly support the IG. Sorry. I mean I love the IG, I do! I had an IG army. I even theory crafted a zerg-IG army wher eeveryone had cybernetics and two melee weapons. Heh. Charge a tyranid swarm yeah go team Spoiler This was back in 4E but it was take feral worlder and Machine Cult background choices for your army, then fill it with conscripts with commisars. Feral worlder let them take two melee weapons or a pistol and a sword at no cost, machine cult gave the option to give any unit in the army cybernetics. So you get a swarm of conscripts with 5+ invul saves and 4 melee attacks on a charge. Yeeeeaaa. But the game is set around "Big". Tau can hold up to Space Marines without the numbers because individually their more then capable of fighting. Their armor is SME and their guns are BETTER. IG die in one shot from a space marine. The bolter was designed specifically to do that, in fact, to pierce flak armor and detonate 'inside' the chest of the victim. I hope we find a way? Because I'd loev to see it. But, I think IG will be one of the last factions put in because it's also one of the hardest factions to balance.
This has been suggested, discussed and dismissed so many times before. If you are new to the forum, you'll propably didn't know that yet. But please understand that you will get a lot of "Not again!"-replies for your suggestion.
An IG-army cannot match a SM-style army player for player and character for character. It... simply... can... not. That's why an IG-player needs more than 1 Guardsman. For example: 1 IG-player plays a whole Guardsmen-squad at once. The guardsmen stay together as a tight group. When taking damage, they die one by one. You aren't dead until your last Guardsman is dead.
