Please consider. When (if) adding the Imperial Guard as an option for Playable Character, consider making them a squad. This would better suit the feeling of the Imperial Guard, both for fans of the IG who often flock to the banner of the IG for their number and equivalence to todays combat doctrine, and for players of other factions (Who would be offended when their 200 y.o Space Marine is bested in hand to hand combat against a puny human with a combat knife.) It would also provide a uniqueness to the MMORPG genre when you have the option to control a squad rather than a single avatar. Each man with their name (personally name your officer and randomly generate the name of the rest.) and battle role. A squad could have a lesser officer and a heavy weapon wielder assigned to each squad, along side a medic and two lasgun men (lasgun men could potentially be special weapon men as well.) When you die, you could lose men, and have new men (new names) take their place ( of course with the same gear as his equivalent, or you would suffer massive player sourced nerd rage. ) All gear would be assigned to the whole squad or the related weapon master p.ex finding a new "armor" would give new uniforms to the whole squad. If you will be using a class-like system as that of preciding MMORPG's, the type of squad could vary. Suggestions for squads include: Imperial Guardsmen - With orders that make them run faster, shoot multiple times, take cover asf. (Rouge) Heavy weapon squad - Take position and punish (Warrior/Tank) Psyker battle squad - Mage class (Mage) Further out there would be driving an actual tank - Chimera, Leman Russ (Tank) One could meander down this river of thoughts for ages but I will leave that to the developers and only reiterate my humble proposition; Please consider making IG PC's a squad rather than a single character. For one thing, I would be horribly disappointed if this game tried to shoehorn 40k units into the WoW "golden triangle". For another, this has already been discussed in quite a few other threads, primarily as a result of Space Marine players severely underestimating the strength of typical Guardsmen (they seem to have them confused with Conscripts and PDF much of the time). Technology issues aside, giving the Imperial Guard what essentially amounts to a 5x population multiplier would make them horribly OP if the AI is anywhere near competent and would be a waste of resources (and supremely frustrating to herd around) if it's not. The Imperial Guard can hold their own as single characters so long as they have sufficient vehicle support and play to their strengths. If anything they would just need a small bonus to req gain (to keep the tanks rolling) and slightly shorter respawn times, though I would hope they're developed more in-depth than that with a focus on holding the line and crushing our enemies under the weight of superior logistics.
