I was talking mainly troop types to cover the base classes, elites and heroes. I would assume that regiments would be the logical subfaction splits, and with a slight twist to each class type.
Personally the more the pressure is kept up the more chance that the IG will be added later on due to popular demand. They deserve a spot in the game that doesn't make them part of the poster boy LSM, they deserve a spot long before other factions that were introduced later to the lore and TT. The 1st factions of the game (excluding Squats) were Orkz, IG, LSM, CSM, Eldar and Tyranids (even the 'nids were a later addition).
I think we should have a counter much like how industrial sites keep a counter of how many days they have without an accident, instead this one will read "Days without a new Imperial Guard Thread: 0" But I do believe it's been directly stated that they are not considering ideas that require a NPC squad to implement.
It has because that particular idea is popular with shooter fans that are looking simply for a bit of balance and not invested in the IG. It's very unpopular with actual IG fans.
Woah hold on sir! I'm an actual IG fan. I liked the idea cause it would make me feel like a commissar and what not. Plus it worked well with one of my favorite 18th century shooter M&B W: Napoleonic Wars!
Then you're in the minority I believe and I apologise for speaking for you. For myself, and the general feeling that I got from the forums is that most IG fans would rather play a single guardsman than run around with a group of AI "pets" as they have been called.
I understand the sentiment. If I never played M&B and fell in love with the bot squad system I'm sure I would have rather played as a single guardsman
I imagine due to the fact that it would be hell on the servers to have so many bots that it's not feasible yeah.
The main thing is that each bot would potentially take up the position on a server that could be held by a single player. To be honest that doesn't bother me overly much considering I've read people's posts about 6000-7000 member mega guilds joining the game, that can field 500 players in one go. THAT's more of a concern.
