Imperial Guard Faction?

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Servant_of_CTan, Nov 7, 2013.

  1. Why not make it another Free to Play faction? so atleast all the free to play players can feel like they're fighting other ones or something or have competition... so there's at least 2 to pick from for free to play to create some competition for "good guys" vs "bad guys" sorta thing
  2. If i'm honest, i'm surprised this thread is still going .. o_O

First thing: It's more like "Grey vs grey."

There are no good guys in Warhammer, just various degrees of desperation and ambition.

Second thing: The reason the Orks are free to play is to simulate the green tide rising. You're damming up the flow of Orks if you bring in Imperial Guardsmen. Especially since people are already concerned about how the game'd work with two Imperial factions in play.

No, I mean, really he didn't need to explain, I inferred.

Mainly from the suggestion causing me physical harm.

To put this in kinder terms, your average Lasgun in most lore can take off a limb at close range, and boil a kidney at distance. They are generally ineffective, but they still *hurt* and that's why you fire them en-mass. They just happen to be inferior to modern weapons loaded with alternative ammunition.

However on the plus side power packs are also light weight, rechargeable in the sun, or even with a lamp light, and has zero recoil. Even Chaos, who will more often then not sneer at the imperium, recognizes the value of the humble Lasgun and will use it when purchasing high-quality autoguns and putting their cultists through extended training isn't an option.

Hell, chuck it in a firepit, even. Lasguns are a miracle of engineering.
  7. Oops! Sorry, good point! I agree with you, it would definitely hurt the Orks population which is suppose to be higher than the rest :p

The lasgun is the 40k version of the AK-47, and even if it's not supposed to pierce power armour in the lore, it will literally boild the MEQ inside.

Though...very slowly mind you. Don't get me wrong, if you're a single Imperial Guard up against a space marine, you are so far beyond fucked unless you're somehow from the Lucifer Blacks.
  10. The IG could make up for their individual weakness by having easier access to vehicles or special forces and a lower penalty for dying. I'm not certain on the games death mechanics yet, but death should be cheap for people playing as the Imperial Guard.
