True, you don't really automagically find games in M&B Now I think about it I don't play a lot of multiplayer pvp shooters so I can't say much about MM in other games. However it is notable that you can't use auto balance in this game like you can in others due to faction asymmetry
Yeah it's just fucked. The only solution to imbalanced teams currently is for the MM to throw players into in-progress games, which is a dice roll of luck and usually I end up on skewed teams that are getting smashed. A small playerbase split between 4 teams can be alleviated if Space Marines and Eldar could fight on the same team and the same with Orks and Chaos.
ONLY If they get rid of the host system. It's ridiculous when it migrates hosts 6 times in a goddamn row and then it goes to 1 guy and everybody starts lagging like fuck.
I am not sure how that would ever help against matches that never even reach balanced numbers. It's not like the match start with inequal numbers and the outnumbered side then filling up; they usually being skewed and stay that way.
Add patches of 5 people for each team at a time until player cap is reached. Punish leavers with an requisition fee of 200-500. I've said something similar in the past, hope it gains traction.
What happens if they lose connection or their game crashes or something? Even if you made a workaround for that, they could just purposefully close the game so they don't have to pay the fee.
No to fee's. Anyway : I play every match. If I am in a match 5 vs 15. That match is played. Until the bitter end Eldar Power ! Some possible Solution would also be : BUFF the smaller faction. maybe 5 vs 15 -> HP x 3 for the 5 ?
I'd rather the matchmaker only put in equal numbers of players for each team, so if you got 5 then the enemy can have 5 and vice versa...i mean 3xHP souns kinda allright in theory but it would just be weird as hell. Its gotta either be equal numbers or some other sort of buff/debuff (for example if you got more people on a match where you have to cap first, decrease the match time OR increase the cap time accordingly with the player number difference)?
Yes, I support the whole punish leavers idea, it's very often that people just leave as soon as they recognize a tag or a couple of names. Playing a 15v1 is not fun.
I would argue against buffs for smaller factions or changes to game time. You want your characters performance to be consistent, not fluctuate from one match to the next or even worse within the same match. Imagine a game where you're outnumbered at the start so you get 3xhp or whatever meaning you can win engagements you wouldn't normally and you adjust your tactics, then without realising your team fills up, your buff is gone and you still run in like Schwarzenegger shouting "come at me bro!" And then your gun isn't working like it did 30 seconds ago! I think the only solution is only allow in equal numbers of players or just wait for the match to fill up. This would be less of a problem if you could wait for your match in the garrison but I have no idea how far away from that we are.
