At least the rust bucket was good for information, well most of the time. Fley's request for another weapon didn't really dampen Pool's chances, just needed to make it sound more required for the mission. A Rifle firing would alert anything and everything around. Even if there were suppressors that could be used it'd still give Pool something new... Also as for Fley's first day it didn't help to have a machine that was more than likely still running for the last two hundred years nonstop up in his face. "Sir," Pool spoke up with the hopes to draw MacArthur's attention to him rather than their new squad mate "With the mission objective being remain hidden and perform recon for the Enclave perhaps we should we be outfitted with weaponry more fitting to that role. Most of us are using automatic firearms and all it takes is one of us to pull the trigger and the whole mission is screwed. Perhaps some new weaponry or suppressors are in order to properly accomplish our given objective." Pool wasn't too hopeful with his request. MacArthur was slow sometimes, if the Barracks were burning and they asked for some water to put out the flames he'd have to consider it before accepting it.
"As the medical specialist, it will be your eyes that will best to determine the state of Gamma Squad. Don't let me down, Ms. Lee!" Ruby saluted sharply. "Of course not, Sir! You can rely on Delta Squad!" She took a step back and got her pack settled on her back, ready to move out. Glancing across at Fley, she winced a little in sympathy. Still, she was heartened to see Pool trying to take some of the heat off the newcomer. MacArthur wasn't as harsh as he might sound, that was as much his way as the Major, but even a verbal grilling wasn't the best start to the day. But there wasn't much she could do, so she got ready to move out. Pausing only to take a spare can of orange juice concentrate from the table. Where they were going, they would all benefit from the extra vitamins.
Arthor nodded to the sergeant and followed his lead over to the exit saying nothing and ignoring the screaming robot as best he could. Maybe next time around he could get into the Major's personality software and make him a little less violent. Then again if he was caught he would be charged with tampering with military equipment which would put him in quite a bit of trouble. Still balancing the idea he kept following the sergeant not really wanting to sit through a robot screaming at the rest of delta for asking questions.
Unsurprisingly, Bark was confused. He never saw a treat like the one Seargent had in his hand before. Then again, he only recently became aquatinted with the idea of getting treats. So it wasn't beyond the realm of possibility in his mind that it was just a type of treat he's never seen before. And then the Seargent did something weird with the odd treat. Instead of just tossing it to him or placing it down in front of him like other treats, this treat was being wrapped around his neck. Curious about the treat around his neck, Bark tried to sniff it, and then proceeded to try to lick it. Oddly enough, his memory banks registered the taste sensation on his tongue as: BAD . Treats usually weren't awful, at least as far as he knew anyways. "TREAT?" the translator piped up as he looked back up to the Seargent, looking for answers. The Seargent said...something to him, he wasn't exactly able to understand however. Utterly bafflled by the odd bad tasting treat around his neck, Bark began to bite at the thing. He came to the same conclusion, it tastes bad. Arriving at said thought, he stopped trying to eat the bad treat, after already biting off a bit of it in the process. He spit out the bit of the bad taste treat, letters T and A from the word was visible on the piece of fabric. The word DELTA on the bandana now read off as DEL. Bark looked around, lost on what to do next.
@dx144 @Jorimel Major MacArthur signed in mock annoyance. "As I said before Private Pool, new gear and mission supplies will be waiting for you on hanger level one. I've no doubt in my servos that you WILL face enemies in hostile territory. You'll be walking to the designated point from airport after all. It will be no walk in the park. Keep your distance, but more importantly keep your trigger fingers at the ready. Stealth is only a factor as long as you complete your mission. Besides, Power Armor isn't for snooping like some commie. You're a soldier of the Enclave, start acting like it." saluted Ruby Lee with his metal claw. "Carry on, you're a credit to that uniform. Now that that's out of the way... YOU'RE DISMISSED!" With that, The Major didn't technically leave the barracks. Instead, MacArthur simply powered down becoming dead to the world until reactivated at a set time. It was then that Jenkins clapped his hands to get the rest of Delta Squad's attention. "And with that stirring address out of the way, It's time we moved out." At his side was already Engineer Arthor and the insubordinate Cyberdog who had already tarnished his new bandanna. Jenkins didn't seem surprised by it, or if he was he didn't show it on his face. @TuskatheDaemonKilla @GobMaw_HellSmasha @Keidivh @BuriasDempsey @Vulpas @PorOborosCain Delta Squad left the barracks, making good time to level one. The Tower was noticeably emptier as opposed to the previous day and night. Only a few stray researchers and science team passed them in the hall not stopping to speak. At the Hanger, Delta was welcomed by a familiar face. Grant Sawcheck, engineer and vertibird pilot stood by ready to receive them. His smile made his thick graying beard ruffle. "If it isn't my favorite squad of nobodies. Welcome back to the Roost. I'm told I'll be taking you to a previously secured area for sweeping. Damned if I know what Command is thinking. From what the others have been saying, Alpha and Beta Squad need all the help they can get keep those damn raiders in check. Then again, the General has also deployed the Peacekeepers so maybe that's tipped the balance. We'll see when we take off. Before I forget, there are a few big crate of supplies for you. Just sign here." Sawcheck says, handing Sergeant Jenkins a clipboard and pen. Jenkins read the form and saw what supplies they were be granted. The first crate held weapons mods for the mission Silencer and Beam Focuser Mods for lasers weapons(improves accuracy), Sturdy combat armor for right arms(Can be worn over clothes and improves toughness) for all squad members. [Delta Squad Acquires Weapons Mods and new Armor pieces - Improves states and toughness of all squad members] The second crate contained Stealth Boy units, but only just enough for one member each. [Delta Squad Acquires Stealth Boys - can make the user temporarily invisible and harder to detect for a short period of time.] "Looks like the Major wasn't all talk after all. Hey Fley, here you can use this." Jenkins says handing the researcher the Peacekeeper revolver he had confiscated from one of the Sampsons last night. "I've already got a sidearm I'm comfortable with. Use this when you aren't trying to sterilize the whole Chicagoland with that triggered nuke." [Gordon recieves 1 Officer's Revolver] OOC: After we finish up, all aboard the Vertibird!
Strapping on the plates for his stun baton wielding right arm and getting a feel for the new weight with a few swings, he nodded to himself in approval for the little extra armor. Seeing the new egghead getting Sampson's revolver, he gives a light tap to Fley's shoulder to get his attention. @PorOborosCain "Just be careful about flashing that around other PeaceKeepers, the smarter ones will try to interrogate you on the spot, the dumber ones will do something much more drastic, if you catch my drift." he said in a quieter tone, making sure Gordon understood how a Peacekeeper might see someone whose not one themselves carry around one of their guns out of the blue.
Ruby took her allotted armour and carefully fitted it to her existing combat gear. It was thoughtful, but she was left-handed. However, she was a positive person by nature, so she assumed that she had been given armour for her parrying and blocking arm. She gathered up her pack again and took the Stealth Boy and the weapons modification unit. Thus armed and armoured, she was ready to follow Sergeant Jenkins into the field again. Looking up at the Vertibird, Ruby wondered what it would be like to be invisible. Would she finally get an answer to her childhood question - if the hero of the story takes a potion to become invisible, can he still see himself?
@DaKaptin Gordon visibly recoiled from the sudden exploding temper of the talking rust bucket, Major MacArthur. 'Aka, Major Pain-in-my Cranium' Fley Thought. 'Guess this is normal behavior for the Gutsy Unit. Everyone doesn't seemed alarmed by this threatening behavior. Weren't Enclave machines programmed never to harm Americans?' To be safe, Gordon stood back to attention before saying. "I understand... Sir." Then Smiling. Spoiler (OOC: He's not very good at expressing himself.) Gordon took the Revolver from Sergeant Jenkins. It was heavier than he remembered. The barrel was thicker and the metal was dark, with a conform grip. Flicking open the cylinder. Six shots, each one a physical embodiment of 'No'. "Thank you Sergeant. I will use it for the defense of our Enclave and to bring death to our enemies. The Mutants, Abominations, and anything else that would stand in my..., our way." Gordon returned to the ammo depot and collected .44 rounds. [At the Vertibird Hanger] @BuriasDempsey "Thanks for the advice, Officer Conners. I'll just keep it out of sight when I'm not using it. After all I'm a scientist, not a thrill seeker. Besides, I'm probably not the only memeber of Delta Squad the Peacekeepers would take issue with. If I recall correctly, you must have broken Sampson the Younger's nose and teeth." Gordon says with another one of his attempted smiles. In truth, it would be Jace Southwind who had the most to fear from them. 'But why single him out?' Gordon thought couriousily. Fley takes a piece of armor and a silencer for the revolver. "I wonder if this will actually work? The science behind it is questionable. But who am I to question enclave equipment?"
@Jorimel @PorOborosCain Jace snickered as the major began laying in on poor Fley. He tried the exact same thing before, and had received more or less the same reaction. Being on the other side of it though, it was funny as hell. After the major had ran out of things to scream about and left Jace went up and patted the new scientist on the back. "Don't sweat it Fly, that's just the major's way of saying he likes you. You'll know you're really on his good side when he whips out the flamer." He gave a sly wink as he went back to his bunk and tried to decide which weapon to bring. He desperately wanted to see how his plasma rifle would work in the field without possibly exploding, but he knew the laser rifle would afford more accuracy and stealth. Weapon in hand, Jace began moving out, nudging Lee as he did. "And look at you doc, getting a compliment Major Malfunction there! That's more difficult than getting a bloody Purple Heart." He laughed at the fact that this was probably true. He was pretty sure he had never heard the major give a compliment. He sure as hell never got one, that was for damn sure. ~Hangar~ Upon seeing their pilot, Jace gave a nod of acknowledgement. He seemed like a chill guy, maybe after this he could get him and some of the others to grab a drink? For now that would have to wait as they had received some new toys to play with! Jace eagerly looked through the crate, finding the perfect mod for his rifle, a focus prism that would make his shot more accurate and hopefully less noticeable. He also attached the vambrace to his right arm over his duster. Perhaps the most interesting thing they had received though was the Stealth Boy. "Hmm, what kinda hell do you think I can raise if I'm able to save this for when we get home?"
Watching the Rust Bucket go back to it's "rest". Sarge telling them to go was enough for Pool to jump into his Power Armour and headed off to the Hangar. Seeing Grant talking about how the Enclave was struggling with Raiders sounded like it should be taking sweets from children. Then again we're the reserves of the Enclave, not real soldiers. No doubt Sigma could have the entire area cleared by themselves in a few days, a week at the most. Where ever Sigma is though they were no doubt in a more vital position. You don't send your best for small assignments. Pool picked up a stealth boy and silencer for his rifle which looked almost too small for his Power Armour. "Hopefully we'll take some of the pressure off Alpha and Beta then, even if we distract a few Raider groups and take a few heads off as well then we'll help." Pool spoke as he carefully attached the silencer to his R-97 Assault Rifle. "I don't think I'm even going to use this thing anyway..." Pool tapped the Stealth Boy sat at his side in the Vertibird.
