It's the same on all mmo site, and groups, even if you try to explain detail to people that still wait the game (some even with a founder pack) many are still scaried and not happy.
They are still waiting for play and see something and listen to people that will play the game but they are more and more sceptical.

No one has yet given me any reason to suggest the blessings of the goddesses of the game industry have left this place. Therefore I'll still maintain my faith.

Don't lie sir, the real reason is because you hang them from the eastern side of the building if they fail to meet quotas so they burst with the rising sun.

Oh god, they're going ape shit up in 8chan! Haha, well lets just let the dust settle. Meanwhile .... popcorn.gif

Can't say I blame them for being distrustful given recent events in the gaming industry (Pre-order games being fuck ups on launch, games getting constantly dumbed down, F2p/P2W, Kickstarter failures, etc). Its just breeded a vitriol filled, anxious and distrustful community :/.

Not really? They're just being from what I can tell, the same sorts of people that left 4chan and /v/. It's only minorly entertaining, not even worth nepposting.

That said 4chan/8chan have a lot of 40k fans. Quite a few people on this board post there too. That said its often the troll teens that post mainly.

Also, incase you don't remember Miguel actually did 2 AMAs on 4chan last year, haha. Was great!

  7. You have no idea. You're totally right, but you know...

People can't make up their minds.

Hide all the staff changes and and general development changes < Be an open honest person (A truly endangered species i'm aware) that dosen't really need to hide anything.

Does ghodzland's absences wound my faith in EC? Well obviously, but that's not justification for really going "Boohoo game is bed plz pay attention to me". The only time one side will be proven right is upon games release/cancellation.
  8. On a purely emotional level, I agree it's a shame to see any of the original creative leads leaving the project, whatever the reason. We've been on this journey with some of them for the last 2 years, after all.

Separately to that, I personally think it's a shame that the team is losing David for the skills and passion he brought in, which is pretty much how I felt about Miguel, Steven, Patrick and Ivan as well...and I think is partly why Michael Chan's reassignment to EC now that he's not needed elsewhere in Behaviour was met with such a warm reception from the community.

As for wounded faith, I understand...but...

This is the point where I feel a bit odd saying randomly nice things about people as I'm not by nature a "fluffy" person. Still, two years ago there was no Ivan, no Katie and no Nathan. At the time, we didn't know what we were missing by not having them involved - but I don't think its controversial at this point to suggest they've left a positive mark on EC and on the community. When Ivan wasn't retained full time because the studio as a whole couldn't justify retaining a full-time narrative designer, the community outpouring of sympathy, well-wishes and disappointment was pretty extensive.

As, of course, were the doom-laden predictions because not everyone in the forum has quite got used to this level of transparency. But as Warmaster Abaddon likes to remind us, revelation is a process. ;)

The faith-mending part? Ivan, Katie and Nathan were newcomers who decided to engage with us publically (admittedly, Katie may not have had quite the same degree of choice). There are also leads and replacements who opted instead for the sanity of anonymity, and are not in the full glare of the community's spotlight. It's not so easy for us to tell what we'd be missing by not having them involved.

There are also relatively newer leads like Noah who haven't yet had the same time or opportunity to fully wow us - and who may be keeping one foot in the sanity camp, as anyone with the surname Ward working on the 40k franchise does run the risk of mistargeted character assassinations. Once again, it's not easy for us to tell what we'd be missing if they weren't here.

So yes, the group of former Funcom leads who forged the core of the EC team has got smaller once again...but to pick two people at random, if we lose a Steven and gain a Katie...yes, I'll be amongst the first to admit it's a crying shame to lose a Steven.

But I'm not going to regret that we as a community knew enough about what it was a Steven did and who a Steven was personally that we can conclude will miss his input into the project.

I'm also not going to regret the part where, along the way, the studio gained a Katie. And for that we have to give things time, and trust in Nathan's ability to bring in good people, for that to become apparent.

Okay, way too much fluffyness. Back to my normal curmudgeonly self, methinks.

  10. Question.. i understand the transparency and such and i agree with it even though sometimes my ignorance causes my judgement to be clouded by too much transparency but .. is there any reason for concern for this games stability and continued production speed ?
