Eldar dont work on the open if they can help it. So mostly tactics, unseen, hidden, from behind. Eldar is not cut out for a frontal battle. True, we CAN do it, but our physiology just not allows it. Orks and SM/CSM both have a higher stamina, toughness and armor, so a head-to-head combat, especially a drawn out would be suicide.

So I imagine, it will be more like ambushes, retreating to the terrian, trees, using cover ect. And sneaky stuff :3

Well, after last Codex Eldar are top contenders.
They quite CAN do frontline combat with their vehicles, wraith constructs and so on without exposing fragile bodies to enemy. And those who do that usually have countless layers of protection.

Well, Guardians outshoot Tactical Marines in even numbers if they manage to get a first volley. If only there were Tacs on table.

Really depends of the craftworlds, each one having his strongpoints and weaknesses, some can face proudly their enemies.

Personally I was more of a space marine fan, having discovered wh40k with Space Hulk, though I discovered the Tau Empire in DOW, which is actually my favourite army, as the fierce power of the Eldar in DOW2. It was the army allowing the most interesting tactics, as the most various ones : very flexible as fast, thus giving an overwhelming impression upon its enemies by harassing them, though being just a handful, in order to achieve victory thanks to ruse or brutal power, or a melting of both.

Though my mind is not set already, I really could play Eldar as main character if I can play a warlock, my favourite hero in DOW2.

The first time I visited a games workshop store, I left with a Baharroth metal figurine. I've been an Eldar man since.
I do enjoy other factions in books as well though.

Since they're not that many in the lore, it seems like Eldar (both them and their dark cousins) were written with a better attention to detail. Like symbolism, mythology, history, mentality, general personality etc. As Kilgar stated earlier, I have no interest in immersing myself in something I see every day (aka human). There are interesting Space Marine Chapters and Chaos Warbands, sure, but I prefer pointy ears when it comes to immersion :)

Here is a great example of why I like Eldar, Dark or otherwise. An emotional piece that describes them perfectly, imho.

As for tactics, reading through the Eldar forums has given me a general idea about the people here and I love it. As much as I like shooting and impaling stuff, the right kind of group is needed for a faction like this. For example, if you and your squad encounter enemies of the same number, but are beyond their reach and they can't see you, what do you do? Common gaming sense will tell you to shoot them. However, in this case, you need to patiently wait and assess the situation. Wait for them to travel further, if they group up with another squad, leave. If they end up fighting with another faction, wait for them to finish and purge the survivors. It's a really simple strategy commonly used in modern battles that seems to be ignored but in our case, needed. And this community sounds like they can pull it off perfectly.
Will I stand with the Eldar until the end time? I dunno, it depends on how the game progresses. I am planning of joining our hated kin if they launch, but if the people manage to keep me here, no problem, I'll stay.

Well when/if they introduce Dark Eldar how many of the Eldar players are off to go to the Dark Eldar =P

I mean I would like to try them out just because they are like Space Elves but Dark Elves in Space =D
  9. I think we both know there are OTHER reasons why you want to be a Commorrite.

It really depends. Personally, I can better identify with the Dark Eldar mentality, that's why I prefer them over the normal ones. But since a lot of people have different tastes, there might be ones whose second favorite race isn't Eldar (like mine) and will be leaving from other factions to join any other race that will or will not be implemented later.
