My reason for choosing eldar is because I was intrigued by the starting thing in the Etarnal Crusade website.

Reason I will remain Eldar: It would suck to leave such an awesome community.

For me the elder are the best written underdogs out there. The whole universe is out to kill them, most are after them just due to misunderstanding them and the other half want to consume their souls. And all the Eldar want to do is be left alone and their stuff not messed with (not counting chaos who they try to cut off when ever they can). I love their vision of warfare, seeing into the future and being able to manipulate other lesser races into fighting the Eldar fights without knowing they are doing so.

There has also been so much left in the dark about the Eldar it gives you so much freedom in modeling. don't like craftworld? There is always the exodites or pirates? Then there are the dark brothers the Dark Eldar.

The mythos behind the Eldar is also just as rich. With a mix from so many of our old religions and mix in chaos. awesome for the fluff!

And from the tabletop, you can beat the organic feel of an Eldar force. Every Eldar army has a balance no matter what the makeup of the army is. Eldar generals have to be just a little better than most others. We have an army of specialists, unlike other armies where one squad can do multiple things well. Our generals have to know what they are doing with their squads and stick to that plan or the army dies a horrible death.
  3. Am I understanding this incorrectly - or had you not known about the Eldar before EC? Or not about 40k in general?

    Indulge my curiosity.

I did collect 40k miniatures for a time, but neever played with them. I collected the Tau. I did know about the Eldar for as long as I was collecting, but not in great detail. But, as time passed, I learned more and more about them. I never knew them as well as I did Tau (lore, weapons/gear, mentality) and in some aspects I still don't. But I have been reading up on them, things like history and all that stuff and I am very intrigued.

So I do know about the Eldar, but not in as much detail as most of the Eldar players on this forum. I apologise to anybody who is dissapointed by this and no longer wants me and my inferior knowledge in their community. So sorry:(

Also, before anyone asks: no, I will not switch to Tau when they are introduced. I will stay true to the Craftworld and all my comrades.
  6. No-one is going to want you to "get out" because "omfg fukkin casuals ruining my eldar gtfo". If anything, it's wonderful to see someone getting interested in Eldar (and actually want to learn all their intricacies) as opposed to Space Marines or some other thrice-cursed boring faction.

But if I may suggest something, read this:

It's quite possibly one of the most interesting and well written pieces of fluff in all of 40k. It really helps you flesh out your IC-speech too, with references to Eldar mythology here and there. (all Craftworld Eldar are expected to know atleast the basic myths)

It's simple. Eldar are the only sane race in the world of exaggerated bitterness and insanity.

P/S Might have to change an avatar
  9. The wolves don't seem too insane or bitter to me :X

I'd say that humans are the most insane race of all, not even chaos. And the reason? They are the only race that do not have a true, clear purpose. Even chaos followers know that they have a purpose, but not the humans.
