Hello devs and hello fellow Crusaders!

I have one simple question really, will we be fighting with or against any iconic figures of the WH40k? NPC controlled ofc and arriving in battleships orbiting the planet giving you a mission that is available just during the time they are in orbit or at the surface? If yes then who will we be expecting to come visit ? chaptermaster of the Blood angles Supreme Grand Master Azreal? ps. this is truely a dream come true thank you so much for making this game ( takes a pile of money throws at devs ) here take it all just give game =P haha

From what I have heard, it seems like ACTUAL 40k characters will probably not be making an appearance. BUT that does not mean that NEW ones can't be made and then added to 40k lore! : ]

i would love to see the space wolf commander Ragnar Blackmane in person, and have a mission where he needs his fellow space wolves help.

I feel we should not see any iconic characters from the lore.
The galaxy is big. Really big. Like freakin huge. And in 40k, it is completely engulfed in never-ending war. Countless soldiers are fighting on countless battlefields all across the galaxy at any given time. And the planet EC is taking place on is only one of those battlefields.
I feel like it would really take away from that scale and be cheesy as hell if all of these iconic 40k characters just randomly showed up on this single planet at the exact same time to take part in our little war. It's awesome if a few of these iconic characters and their exploits on some distant battlefield are mentioned here and there, but we should not see them in person, and we definitely should not fight with or against them in the game. Ever.
For example, maybe you can hear cool stuff from NPCs, like a battle-hardened Ultramarine veteran telling a few of his younger Battle Brothers about the time he fought side by side with the great Marneus Calgar against a horde of Orks at Vertax IV a century ago, and that it was one of the proudest moments of his life. To me, that is FAR more immersive and badass than just seeing some lame NPC Marneus Calgar forever standing in the corner, waiting for new players to click him so he can give a newbie starting mission or whatever.

Create your own iconic warriors for the story, Behaviour. Or better yet, let the players become the iconic warriors on the battlefields of EC.

what you say Locutus does make sense, After all now that i think about it, it would be weird to see Ragnar Blackmane out of the blue on this random planet. hearing about him though from a npc would be nice. I like the idea of making your own iconic warrior for the story.

I actually would like to see:
    Uriel Ventris
    Ragnar Blackmane
    Rafen
+whoever the Dark Angel equivalent is :p (Haven't got to Dark angels novella yet!)

The whole deal with 40k is the iconic warriors it talks about. No one cares about the adventures of 'Random Marine'. I want to see a story unravel - canon or not - that includes people I've read about!

loctus i totaly agree but i maby put my toughts in to poor choose of words, think like this : the devs after launch to mark 1 year of EC they annouce a special event! The dark angles first company vetrans are passing trough, they are on there way to a distant battlefield but it so happens that one the shipps in the flottilla they are traveling have been damaged during entry to the warp. During the LIMITED time they are in orbit making repairs you can visit them or communicate with them or something my imagination fails atm haha! Once the time window is done for lets say between 20:00-23:00 after that they will depart and ppl that have been online and done a mission while the Dark angles vetrans were in orbit will be getting a tittle or a reward?! =) a medal maby or a battle honors that wont come around again as its a one time event! Orrrr call in the ultra marines special anti-tyranid force in a battle named lets say..... the Clensing of the dulidant vallys (a part of the planet) as the vallys are infested with tyranids and if u complete lets say 10 missions in 2 days then u get a a reward and that will help in that every spacemarine is diffrent as they have diffrent medals been on diffrent campaings (on the planet) done diffrent things and are not just diffrent in equipment or diffrent in names of seals and so on , I hope i explained my tought correctly this time =) haha ill stop rambling on battle-brothers! =)

Qasim, i really like your idea, and it would be bad ass. i like the idea of special events provided they allow a time limit that is reasonable. Which gives me a funny idea, what if for a Christmas special event they have Santa Clause. Space Marines would have to go help cleanse Santa because he got corrupted by the warp, Chaos can go in and there mission would be to stop him as well because he endangers their plans. Orcs well do they even need a reason lol. And as for eldars well who cares about them =P

    I agree with Locutus.

I hope for new characters up and coming commanders for each faction just for the Eternal Crusade lore, more freedom to adapt them to the games specific lore and even game mechanics.

Worst case scenario write several short stories based on player characters with impressive feats, this can be turned into a whole self perpetuating marketing effort. In order for a players character to get a short story entry into the lore they must meet a few criteria:

    1. Have a lore appropriate name, not alias/nickname, but name. (This will also incentivize people to avoid non-lore approriate names if they even have a hope of making their character "famous")
    2. Record or screenshot some epic exploit with basic description of what made it epic for a short story to be written about it. (Players can then post these pics & descrips to a social media platform for consideration...adds onto product visibility)
    3. Players can submit short stories based around winning pictures/recordings or if there is ample manpower at BehaviourInteractive they can push them out.
    4. Tie in some form of player voting on the social media for further reach and to select best images, recording, and stories to be added into the lore compendium (IR wiki, or on site).
    5. Every year or so do a role up of all the images, recordings, and stories into a slick video with professional production values to build on the player universe concept, similar to Eves attempt minus the, IMO boring, Eve gameplay.
With the above or similar system you have several benefits to the the game, the community, and the business.
    • Crowdsourced lore (Increasing player investment)
    • Social Media campaign
    • Community building
    • Advert content (Player testimonies, ingame footage/pics, etc.)
