Protip, the dakka loota is better against eldar than the plasma. You don't need the penetration, and the rate of fire means more hits.
simple fix. give eldar -10 baseline toughness, and another +10 to every other faction. because not only are eldar too tanky, marines and orks aren't tanky enough
I just did a game as an Eldar, against Orks. And damn, it felt like easy mode. Actual working melee mechanics, and accurate guns? Yes please! DA can just backpedal faster than ground melee could reach me, because Orks have very short melee range and laughable "lunges". Eldar on the other hand, can spam power attacks that make them move faster than if they were running, at least Scorpions can. And as a Banshee I could swear my power attack and Dbash came out faster than any Ork "fast" attack I've used. Shuriken cannon has virtually no set-up time compared to deffguns, and a higher effective DPS thanks to a much lower spread. DPS balances itself out in close-range encounters, but then that "virtually no set-up time" makes them much better than other heavy weapons at that range. Again, this is just my impression as an Ork player. I bet even playing as LSM would make them feel "OP" compared to us (and I've won most of my games against LSM still).
Reducing eldar toughness by ten doesn't increase the damage taken by DA/HB/SW/warlock, it only affects the DR/FD/SS, the three eldar classes that people aren't complaining about (except the SS, but that's because stealth). Adding 10 toughness to everyone else (with base 300 pooled armour/health) is literally one shot difference for ASC and bolters.. Instead of 1.36s it takes 1.44s to make the kill with the ASC. Are you actually arguing that 0.08 seconds is the reason eldar are OP? Because I once said tenths of a second matter and all the marine players got upset by that, so this would be a nice change. Also the warlock and HB both use force/power swords, so the increased toughness doesn't change their melee damage output at all for low levels. The only thing you are changing is the TTK of the DA and SW (by less than a tenth of a second), plus shuriken pistols across the board. Shuriken pistols are definitely not OP.
I think you're overestimating how much extra mobility Eldar have. It can matter for melee combat, but range is unaffected. The only Eldar class that has noticeable extra mobility is Swooping Hawk, but he has low durability to compensate. Superior hip-fire barely matters with ASC, since you have to hit most of your mag(preferably some headshots as well). They have to look into Scorpions and vehicles, but other classes are fine.
I was wrong. I was at work when I posted that. my DA had 150 armor not 150 toughness. 110 toughness is correct.
First the servers are overloaded, this is a big reason why the Eldar feel more durable at the moment. When BVHR increased the maps to hold more players, they didn't reduce the total number of matches a server would host(which is 4 per server). This is why there is monster lag, the servers cannot handle the huge amounts of load they're under. So the fast Eldar with their small hitboxes are even more difficult to hit than they normally are because of the lag. BHVR is going to experiment with keeping the higher player count but reducing the matches a server hosts from 4 to 3. Secondly all the other factions we're used to fighting the Eldar a certain way. They knew a Shuriken Catapult was asinine past melee range and to either stay back or close the distance really quick and force into melee. They knew Eldar would lose clang wars and be disadvantaged in melee because the highest tier/impact weapons the Eldar had were Power Swords. When I fought Eldar I knew these deficiencies and planned my strategies accordingly. Get up in the Eldar's face and unless they are melee savants, they're gunna lose. Now the Howling Banshees and melee weapon mods closed the weapon tier/impact divide, the Shuriken Catapult works at a "whopping" 15m, the warlock has an AOE heal, the starshot missiles no longer disappear into the warp or do no damage, and the Eldar almost have all their equipment so they have to be dealt with very differently. I can't just barrel in with my power maul and expect to wade through them like a tractor in a wheat field. When 23 first launched I noticed Eldar were winning more and usually only lost to PUGs. Now I see some of the other factions have switched tactics and when I play Eldar I am beaten by PUGs on occasion.
Is this a theory or do you know that 'cause a dev said that ? Because that sound very possible and i'm actually quite curious about what caused the recent monster lag.
