He's just trolling Eldar players with that "eldar are for flanking hurrr" line. That's stupid and not conducive for good gameplay. There are maps where that isn't possible, for example multiple fortress maps don't even have flanking routes and Brent has said repeatedly that maps are being designed deliberately to have less entrances into capping zones for more overlapping field of fire. I don't play Eldar and I don't want to because they would be a painful eyegouging experience with these balance changes in effect.
More polite could mean strictly neutral, just as opposed to insults. Though this topic is not really the goal of this thread.. :Shrugs: Ah well. More on topic, I cant really see why supports should be so much weaker than their compatriots. Especially in cases where they are indeed wearing similar types of armor. And I do really disagree with the whole idea of "Eldar are supposed to flank" if anything they are more surprise shock assault. Appear, hit hard and kill everything. That generally does mean taking a hit... also it is rather hard to flank a mobile opponent especially when you yourself have no front line.
I'm absolutely not okay with melee classes being that much more tankier than every other classes in the current state of the game and the maps. This will be melee zerging meta all over again, especially with ranged classes being squishier. One step forward, two steps backward.
I actually made a shoota boy build on UAT with 365 HP and 155 toughness. He has room for a melta bomb and some attachments and trinkets. That's slightly less than the slugga boy builds I made which are actually comparable to live. So when you consider that boltguns and chainswords now have 100 penetration, slugga boy will actually be roughly the same survivability as on live. Shoota boys will actually have better survivability. However my Painboy build has less than 300 hit points. So it's really support classes that get stinked on. I'm really pissed actually that they didn't even look at power weapon cost compared to chainswords. They're still an auto take, especially with the new availability of toughness wargear for only 100 LP.
I also made a Dire Avenger on UAT. I got every durability item I could. He has: 156 health 158 armour 120 toughness
I guess its time to hang up my jump pack and strap on a shield. Boring being a ground slogger but its looking more and more attractive to just stick to the ground lately. As always we will adapt.
Is there really any sense in doom saying when it hasn't even been confirmed whats on the UAT is the final changes?
They said in the Twitch stream patch was coming out Monday if not by this evening. So they'd sure be making some interesting changes on Monday? Nathan was basically saying if it doesn't blow up it's going live.
