I feel too forced into MoS on Raptor

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Dreadspectre, Apr 3, 2017.

  1. MoS gives extra tasty bonuses on all the JPA fuel wargears in the sense of massive boosts to regen delay. I don't think I'm alone in saying that the mindset of a JPA who runs out of fuel is a dead JPA. 9/10 times I die on JPA it's probably because I burned my fuel too fast(when using MoK). I find myself hardly ever having this issue with MoS JPA though and, as much as I would like to use MoK, I know that I'm SEVERELY gimping my ability to do my role if I don't take MoS.

MoK at least gives you access to lifesteal and Manslayer if you're feeling really frisky(which I do from time to time heh). I don't even really want to think about a MoT or MoN JPA. Although to be honest, Necrotic Chainsword should be a MoN ONLY item right now so that could be their extra goody eventually.

Can we open up the marks a bit more on JPA? I mean the fuel regen thing IS very Slaaneshi, but not really getting those bonuses on any other Mark feels bad.

Also I'm a terrible JPA so anyone else with more than my massive like 6 hours total on JPA's across all factions wants to chime in be my guest haha.
  2. Being forced into stuff you don't want is all good and Slaaneshi.

I was going to make the obligatory Mark of Tzeentch comment but, having played a Tzeentch Sorcerer quite a bit lately, I am forced to admit it's not all that bad. It needs a cautious playstyle, but so long as you don't die you can basically be at full health and armour for every encounter, which is pretty nice.

Not sure how well it would work on a Raptor though. Little value in fast armour regen if you're meant to strike fast and get out to lick your wounds out of range of your enemy. You should theoretically have the time to regen at a slower rate. Faster Fuel Regen means not taking the damage in the first place, so yeah.
  4. I only recently switched to MoS. Before that I was running MoK, Manslayer with 3 fuel. I had games where I could get 20-30 kills, other games where I got shit on. Like I said though my experience with JPA classes as a whole is lacking so practice makes perfect heh.

I do know that nothing feels worse than running out of fuel though on a JPA. Suddenly you are a lumbering squishy GA with giant engines that scream attack me.

I run MoK with power sword on my Raptor.

It's fine, MoS is technically better, but the lifesteal is great for prolonged engagements.

Basically it's a style preference: Slaneesh for more hit and run and Khorne to be able to scrap a bit.

  6. Ehhhh....I don't ever feel like MoK is enough without Manslayer. The only exception to this is when I run MoK Fist which is the best Fist.

< Run MoK Chainsword + lifesteal mod on a Raptor and it works wonders. I just don't have the manslayer yet.

I also have a MoS Powersword raptor and a MoK powerfist raptor (to hunt tanks).

They all perform well, but the powersword is mainly against Orks

I actually started as MoT, and played it exclusively along with every other class until I hit rank 5 (and halfway to rank 6 (Change for the change god)). When I switched to MoS, though, I found myself feeling a bit more cocky and not quite used to the not-having-insanely-fast-armor-regen thing. It was a give and take. Definitely more maneuverable to get around, but not as much play as to which situations you can go into and how fast you recover from those scenarios.
  9. Why would you run MoK for a vehicle hunter? MoK doesn't heal off vehicle hits.

He's not using it to lifesteal vehicles, he using it to kill the peeps that exit the tank. MoK Fist is surprisingly still a decent melee loadout against infantry due to sheer damage. It's a hard tie for me between MoS and MoK when it comes to using a fist.
