That ork rokkit video is literally a series of clips of him killing unaware marines who aren't fighting back almost ever. You could have done the same thing with a PC. and the melee character wouldn't have been spotted on radar because melee doesn't do that. Any marine paying attention and worth anything will dodgeroll the rokkit as they fight a rokkit boy, exactly like how people deal with plasma cannons. The difference is the rokkit can't fire as fast and have a direct fire option that plasma weapons do. Also the rokkit takes 6 rokkits to the rear armor to kill a rhino. At long range its a crap shoot. So 4 meltagun overheats doesn't seem too bad to me. You can cut both weapons commitment time in half with a meltabomb if you're doing an AV loadout, and meltaguns are better at direct fire engagements. Another thing to consider is the rokkit is almost completely useless if you can't shoot the ground and is incredibly hard to use against people fighting you from cover. This probably only covers about 10% of engagements, but still. Best example I have is Refinery Olipsos Point A (rainy lightning map). If you're fighting up either of those hills on approach, it's exceedingly rare to be able to peg a marine since you can't fire at the gound. I know the video shows this point, be he's already up top, I'm talking about the approach. To clarify, I'm not saying the rokkit is bad, far from it, but it's by no means a cure-all and while good ork players can make it look crazy, good marines can make it look useless.
We need a proper tutorial/introduction I think. I don't think a few of them know how the cap and timer sorta stuff works, just one of the many examples. It is frustrating but it'll improve (Gods I hope it does..)
To be fair thats how you use it. It is a surprise weapon mostly it isnt meant for straight up 1v1 fights.
Why are you trying to make rokkit launcha look gimp when all I'm trying to say is the rokkit is great and the ork faction isn't gimp? Really gotta pick yourself up man. Think positive. Focus on how strong the rokkit is in the situations where it's correct instead of how bad it is in situations where it's not correct. Same deal with Orks as faction. Plenty amazing things about Orks as I've mentioned above. Feel free to say Orks need a buff on Harkus. I'm so tired of blowing up my own trukks because they got stuck under that roof.
The orkz are not that bad off. Their weapon pool and classes has good points from all the other factions, as well as more unique aspects as well. The waaaugh does need fixing, especially on fortresses ,that's for sure. And the animations likely needs some polishing...but other than that the orks are very well off right now. If anything I would assume that perhaps it's the players the OP is currently playing with at the time, otherwise there would be such a 50/50 split on Ork games overall unless the stats are off.
You're both right of course. Personally, I've gotten quite a bit of practice with it but its not reliable 1 vs 1 no matter how good your aim is, because the area of impact is pretty much only direct hit. If the target rolls, you often miss. If they lunge, you miss. If they move towards you, you can still miss unless you fire at the ground, as it goes almost "through" the character (technically under their arms). And if they do, you're often quite dead even if it might drag out a bit. Then, naturally, JPA is immune to the rokkit launcha. The main thing is that while you might catch someone unaware with a shoota, they've a decent chance of rolling away and into cover well before they die. That's the advantage of the rokkit, as it gives no such counter-play when caught unaware but that hardly makes it OP. Plenty of weapons do that, like pretty much every melee weapon.
Guys just ignore Valnak, he's obviously eaten too many Rokkits and has become bitter. I'll remind everyone that this guy thought the pre-nerf PC was absolutely fine and shouldn't be touched.... And @Valnak if Orks are the second strongest faction behind LSM, why are Chaos winning more matches than both LSM and Orks? No wait, don't tell me; better players amirite?
Hey now dont forget how balance works around these parts. And yes you are right its the better players!
Chaos players cry about every other faction (as well as upcoming nerfs) until they are stronger than other factions then they continue to cry to keep their position of strength?
Yeah man orks are so gimp that they win the most. Source: http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/arkhona-war-report-week-10.61496/ But seriously. If you stopped whining in game about your fellow orks you can do better. You spent 3 matches doing nothing but complaining about orks instead of playing.
