That the game isn't implementing a vertical progression system incorporating unlocks in a staggered series to induce endorphin release in its players in a manner designed to simulate heroin use for maximum addiction of the consumer base during it's alpha stage? Edit 1: That the steam summer sale ended less than a month ago and people are still playing those games? Edit 2: That the Wh40k brand was never going to be strong enough to pull players away from mainstream games? Edit 3: That a zombie apocalypse occurred and the only survivors are the diehard EC fans who were in front of their computers and not outside to be infected? Edit 4: Pokemon Go came out? Edit 5: That the lack of optimization forces a great many buyers to not play until the game is optimized? Edit 6: Oh wait, it's that conjecture does more harm then good. Sorry.
So it begins - The Final Battle with Chaos ignites, the time has come.....as it was foretold by Eldrad Ulthran, Chaos minions will strike first, a terrible war that will destroy this forum and the game.... Strenghten your hearts, scions of Isha, we all knew this moment will come to pass - this is it...
I don't think this will send the right message. If anything, it will only serve to hurt the two great aspects of the game so far: the tight-knit community and the developer transparency. Though, if you're dead-set on going after suits, call up BHVR HQ and complain. It will probably be just as effective. It's an unfortunate reality that each and every founder and early access backer purchased an incomplete game. I've said this before: we knew the risks when we purchased it and we still shelled out our hard-earned money because we believed it had potential. I've gotten 400+ hours out of it so I feel that I've gotten my money's worth, but if Nathan and the Devs (side note: good band name) want to add more, I'd be down for that. Until then, I'll just give my humble opinion on what's currently being tested.
I disagree with this approach, all respect to you and your passion, @Bladerunner777. I don't think this will achieve your aims. The decision makers probably won't have the reaction you're hoping for, and reducing player count can only hurt the game. I think it far better to show the suits that this game will be popular and well loved - demonstrating that the developers can achieve their goals. I've designed products for the last 10 years, and now manage a team of mechanical engineers who design products. Our least favourite products, from the designers to the Product Managers, are the ones that have the lowest volumes. We spend just as much effort getting those right as other products, but they're the most likely to be sacrificed or compromised on. Low volumes/player numbers will kill a product.
I gotta say I agree with Forgrim on this. I am glad you guys want to take an active role in helping the game, but I think you're going to do more damage than good with this approach.
IMO, I respectfully disagree with the OP, the game as it is NOW is a alpha test its SO much easier to nail down bugs in smaller arena, balance PVP an PVE combat if this was a "sandbox" alpha there would be more problems amplifying the alpha/beta testing scenario. It has been stated many times that the game will open up more and more as the progression of the game is developed, as a side note....you are expecting a company that has a rep for Disney an other kiddy games to develop a 40k game quickly?, There are many MANNY hurdles to overcome, lest of which should be a "MMO" aspect this early in development. Personally I'm waiting for Tau to drop, no longer am I buying 40k anything just to play indoctrinated meat robots that fight for some religion good or bad they both murder people hole sale just cause some one says "there bad MmmK", and little else, while Tau will kill people that fight against the "greater good" they do give many opportunities for the enemy to surrender and join the greater good. So in closing, I respect the feelings of the OP, but I have to say, if we have to wait for it to be done right, is there any reason why we cant help the dev team during the long road that is alpha/beta testing?
So you're seriously demanding they delay the release to implement the "tactical system" that will set up situations where guilds are gonna be told which fights they can or can't participate in, which maps pug groups will be able to compete on because they are not "l33t" enough or which crappy laggy maps have to be played on because all the other matches are full ? Because that's whats coming with the "tactical system" where One Leader/Commander and his council get to determine who fights where. That's what your willing to delay the game for ? Not balance, not 4 functional factions, not a working melee system, not advancements or weapon mods, not server optimization ? But a political system that is going to start all kinds of grief all over the forums and in game ? Seriously ? They need a game that's fun first. Then let people start fighting about who get's to fight where and why.
I want to second what Forgrim said, as well as a few others. As someone who works in IT, boycotting doesn't have the same affect as it does in other aspects of the market. Boycotting in IT results in the dropping or cancellation of the product. Suits are much more likely to kill something in IT, accept the loss of "it's just pixels," then think, "how can we better market this." It's a shame but it's the truth. I have no doubts in the love you have for the game and that you want to support it, but I caution this is not the way. Walking away or turning your backs to it is more likely to result in the same response from the Suits. If you want to affect change, be a voice and a participant. Now is the time to give pointed and specific feedback from our participation on what we want as players. We call these people "Champions" in IT, because they ultimately are what drive our success and push us to make better products. Lets be those Champions, lets give some tough love and some criticisms, but lets march with them through the long and terrible slog that is the development trench.
Those two problems I agree with, Even as an ork and chaos guy I wish the emperor could protect against pokemon go heresy...but that's beyond behavior's control Lack of optimization, never been for early optimisation and never will, but on UAT I'm at a point where the only thing I can test is how good the maps look and what looks like point of interests. Can't test anything gameplay related because half my hits won't register, can't properly test orks power, etc. However when I just can't test well I just don't test, and when something new comes out I try it out to the best of my capacity, and when I can't test it properly I inform them directly. I guess that's the best we can do.
