I called it and it came to pass.

My only retort to everyone saying it's P2W. Folks, none, and I truly mean, NONE, of the RTP weapons are OP enough for me to constitute P2W. They're cosmetic at best. For example, the Sternguard Bolter literally gets a 60rnd mag and a scope. That's it. It's other stats are identical to the Bolter minus reload speed, which is slower to compensate for the increase in ammo cap. You can buy a scope for your Bolter with Req and it takes little to no time. The Sternguard Bolter isn't any better at killing anything than the regular Bolter. You just reload less often. But, your overall ammo pool is halved because each mag is twice as big and it takes longer to reload the damn thing. I don't see this as game breaking. Probably because it isn't. We're griping just to gripe. Should it cost a ton of money to buy? HELL NO. It's over-priced as sin. All of the cash shop stuff is. But, no one is forcing you to buy it.

EDIT: Upon further investigation, the Sternguard Bolter benefits from a minuscule reduction to recoil. Again, still not game breaking.

Sternguard Bolter has the same exact stats as a regular Bolter equipped with a compensator, drum mag, and scope.

Seriously, ALL RTP weapons are easily outclassed by their standard counterparts. Why? Because the standard ones can be freely modded, whereas the RTP ones are stuck with what they have. And the devs have said several times that you will be able to get weapon mods for non-RTP weapons that will give them the same effects that RTP weapons have.

Yes, at the moment, you do have to fight the RNG to get mods, but the devs have said they will make mods directly purchasable in the store/loadout menu for req.

Like I said. There is no P2W.

It is not a problem of "OP enough" or "within acceptable degree of OPness", etc... It should be an absolution.

Let me remind you again that this is a 50$ game. It is not "Cosmetics only" when you had different stats with the original weapon. That is a lie. They should have explained that some weapons in the store have their own stats (which some are similar and some more powerful than their counterparts) and those same weapon that you can only acquire via real money can be outclassed after some grinding and being lucky with lootboxes.

People tend to go with the old school p2w term which even f2p games are not using anymore, because it simply doesn't work. So most of f2p games now use the grinding mechanism to "push" players to pay real money. The new p2w is to pay money to have an advantage. That is the updated meaning of a p2w, which is completely acceptable for an f2p game because that is their only way of financing.

But with EC, they not only increased the price to 50$, they not only released an unfinished and buggy game, they have the audacity to add mechanisms that push the players to buy specific items with real money in order to increase survival chance (or any kind of advantage) in the game. I know you will tell me "b-but it only took x games to get x!", i am sorry that argument is not valid. For a new player, including the disconnects, crashes, bad games, etc...it will surely take more than that.

Even if the weapon has 1 extra damage over the original weapon, that is unacceptable. Cosmetics should have the EXACT same stats as the standard weapons. Nothing less, nothing more. Check League of Legends to know the true meaning of cosmetics.
  5. There is no P2W. RTC weapons are a total waste of money.
  6. I agree with you. I don't agree with the points, but I see why people feel that way.

    1. The cashshop is not pay to win, but the cosmetics are overpriced (Eldar).
    2. Well if you wanted the game from 3 years ago, shitty for you. This is the game we have now, and I judge it on that. And not on what it was at some point supposed to be.
    3. As an Eldar I have nothing to say about this, but in general: Isn't it always? Thats the nature of asymetcrical PvP games. The balance changes every patch. Thats what i expect when I come into an online game. If you think something is too weak, play the thing you think is strong. Or wait.
    4. I bought a new rig (I needed one). And I have no problems except for Server lag. Which I agree is annoying.

The problem with this logic is that I bought this game in Founders Access over a year ago before any of the stats were permanent or relevant to the current iteration of the game. With that said, I also bought the Sternguard Bolter with the RTP that was provided with the Founder Pack I purchased to play in the Founder's Access. The stats for said weapon weren't even built into the game at the time. It is no better or worse than the standard bolter is nearly any respect. That comes from personally using the item. I only bought it because I already had the points and I had to spend them on something, may as well be that.

P2W or Pay to Win literally mean you pay money to get an advantage that would be otherwise unobtainable or take a grueling amount of time to achieve through other means. This simply isn't the case in this game. There is no significant advantage being gained. You're not being forced to spend money. Literally all of the mods on said weapon can be unlocked in game for free with minimal effort using requisition. A resource that is both easy to attain and abundant in nature.

As far as the other bugs, glitches, and crashes, I have already stated that I agree the game is far from ready. But, a year ago it was worse. Progress has been made. The devs didn't put this out as is just because they felt the joy of seeing us squirm. This title is owned by Bandai/Namco and The Games Workshop. Two entities that have the final say in the release date for this title. As someone with personal experience with Games Workshop as a company from more than a patron perspective, they are pretty freaking money hungry. So, none of this is even remotely surprising. It will get better. It's just going to take time.

EDIT: Also, the idea behind quotations is that you are quoting me verbatim. I never once said "Cosmetic Only". I said "They are cosmetic AT BEST" which isn't wrong since I can literally reproduce any other the RTP weapons in game with their base counterparts minus the skins.

having a cash shopin any full price game is bad business and should be abolished . anyone whom says otherwise is a rabid fanboy or troll , srlsy 30 bastard quid to make a space marine vaguely look nice. i can buy a whole other AAA title for that money -_-

But now the sternguard bolter is better than the standard bolter (unless fully modded) in every aspect.

There might not be a significant advantage when you pay, but the advantage is there, so my claim stands correct. Do you know why I push so much into the p2w despite being very trivial (that is compared to other f2p games whose actions are justifiable) the devs didn't say anything about it. Even when i used the quotation, i wasn't quoting you, but i was quoting the devs. They clearly said the shop was only for cosmetics. That was a lie, and i am extremely surprised how there are people out there defending that lie.

When you say cosmetics, you put the same item that is already present in the game but with a different skin. Nothing less, nothing more. This is cosmetics. in EC, The devs snuck in items with completely different stats. Bolter and Stern Bolter have different stats, Autocannon and the cosmetics autocannon have different stats. I don't call that cosmetics, i call that "Special weapons". In the shop now there are cosmetics AND "special weapons" that are better than their original unmodded version. That is a fact now.

But, they didn't sneak that in. They specifically addressed that in a live stream months ago stating that they WILL be slightly different but that the standard issue version can be modded to be identical to the RTP version. Like I said, I've been running with this thing and supporting it since last Summer. I've watched tons of live streams, played through the different patches and mass changes from then until now. I can say from personal experience that any and all differences between the standard issue and the RTP versions of the weapons is minuscule and can be completely counteracted simply through modding. You can also get better versions of the Standard issue weapons that can also be modded making them superior to the RTP counterparts. None of this takes all that much time to achieve and in the mean time the differences between the RTP and the standard is, as I said, minuscule enough that I literally have not noticed any difference.
