Well I got a better idea. They pay us the plane tickets to Montreal, where they give us live size cosplay SM and CSM suits, and we make a video, which will be the live trailer for the game. I offer to make 10 chainswords from foam, painted, so we got the weapons already. (might not look this awesome)
in many case the fan of a mmorpg are a lot more informerd than the press and the specialized site. The risk is the " blind fanboy attitude" and all the variant but a fansite and the fan are a lot better for give info.
I had marketing basics for a year..... It is REALLY interesting and there is so many things you can do.... But only so few "right" things you can do.... Best example is how TV Ads work... most of them are annoying and slain by the power of DVR / Skip power But the internet as an advertisement pool is also hard.... most of it is ignored and ppl usually only look at that what they look for... So it might be hard to actually get the word about EC successfully out... Because the only ones truly interested would be those which know wh40k already, there should be done an advertisement campaign aimed to those new to wh40k / who do not know about it yet and to the general Third-Person-Shooter fans as well MMO fans.
HA HA HA HA.... Priceless... Hacking everyone else marketing with bad ass meme. LOVE IT! Stanley Motss: When it's cooking, it's cooking!
Sorry for my English. I will create a brainstorm group where player can give feedback on our marketing strategy and action plan. Leverage the power of the collective mind! We will work as one mind. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. You must comply.
I didn't choose to become Tyranid..... But count me in.... As long as I am allowed to be either a Ravener or a Carnifex!
Thank you. If I may, a good start would be to approach existing multi-gaming communities. You select one sacrificial lamb (like Miguel Caron) and he has something like a skype conference with some people in charge of that community and walla, free advertisement to a few thousand players. I can hook you up with WarriorNation. Valkr has Vigilia Mortis We have the Black Spiders (or something like that) and a few more communities around here...
Tap into gaming stores, not just games workshop itself but get into supplier channels. One of the things I found as a Warhammer Online player was that a lot of people who player Warhammer TT and 40k had never even heard of the game until it was well in trouble. Another thing to do would be to organise a fan art competition to generate hype, advertised through Bell of Lost Souls, Faeit 212 etc to further stimulate peoples. Finally, some epic teaser videos to release, linking to the ARG in some way, would be the icing on the cake to get the people who want to think in their games interested.
