Think it was 3rd, but im not sure. Their ss's profile said str 4. Now the chainsword is str +1 instead of the model being 4. I think is more elegant this way and more consistent with the slender (but with fabolous weapons) elves in space theme.
Ah, curious. Guess it works out the same, huh? I always remember Scorpions having the same armour save against Space Marines as the vice-versa.
3.0-3.5 for sure. That was when I was working for GW. The Banshee Exarch gets some cool gubbins dont worry, though I think it was mentioned that the trisikle was out.
Honestly I'm in love with both and I cannot wait anymore to play the living f**k out of Eldar! Both classes will provide diverse playstyles and when I think about it they will complement each other. While you got stealthy sneaky scorpion to essentially play a form of an assassin, banshees will be a melee suppression which is very interesting. I think when you get your friends and squads down right and practice you can form a deadly combo of both of them at play. I just fear Chaos and Space Marines will whine so much about Eldar and its rather distant techniques from these factions that Eldar will be the most nerfed faction when it will come to final balancing. Then again I would imagine Eldar will be more agile and less resilient to damage intake so it will be a matter of avoiding damage on the Eldar side versus sustaining damage from other factions.
not in this game. At least not at launch. Wont get the glaive at launch either which is the only banshee weapon I have interest in. So if I melee (big if) it will be as a scorpion.
The most interesting point is that people waiting to play Eldar are for the most part aware that they'll be more squishy and are more willing to teamplay than regular LSM/CSM (even for many wargroups). We've been practicing a lil' Banshee squad yesterday, with 3 MoN with Power sword, bolt pistol (dumb bolt pistol) and grenades, while having a sorc to back us up... Well, believe it or not, the opponent started to whine "better delete MoN too OP", and then proceed to play multi melta. Yes, MoN is way tankier than a banshee, but we didn't have the banshee scream, nor their speed, so I feel it was a fair compromise. And bloody heck, our 4 Close Combat squad was almost able to take on any opponent, turning quickly the tide of the game in our favor. I think at the same skill level, Eldars will be more coordinated than LSM or CSM, so yeah, it's likely that the Mon'keigh will complain about our pseudo OPness
Back to the main subject, this lil' Scorpion makes me wanna try them out after all.... Buuuuut I'mma stick to Banshee anyway
That's funny, I've always used the MoN as Scorpion analogue. OK it's sans stealth but with the chainsword and if you squint and pretend real hard it does the job. Best moment - defending Torias, A was being taken, SM capping about half way through, while SMs defended the hill approach from B I just ran the long way around the back, crouched up to the point, interrupted the cap and slaughtered 4 of them while they continued to look down the hill, I ofc got overwhelmed in the end. A solo suicide mission for sure but thoroughly satisfying. I can picture doing the same thing as an actual Scorp and being able to retreat to the corner and engage stealth to repeat the process if they recapped, instead of killing them, for maximum demoralising trolling.
