How Would The Ui Look For This Game?

  1. I agree fully with the different race UI's, though I do hope they'll allow for an immersive UI as well, one that would either give us the ability to play with transparecy or allow us to hide bulks of it via a key, toggle it on and off.

    UI toggle options and being able to move the UI around and to scale it to different sizes.

  3. Not sure how difficult this would be for them to do, but it would be awesome if each faction had their unique twist to the UI. Even if only color palette, initially. Having a grimy, junk-yard-look for Orks. A streamlined polished sci fi look for Space Marines, etc.

    I thought Space Marine had a nice looking interface. There wouldn't be anything wrong with reusing that one.

    Since it is a shooter that would be fine just some tinkering since there will be a chat box and what not.
    Though on Space Marine i wish the ammo indicator would be smaller or fade in and out like in other games.
    I also enjoy when there is also nothing on the screen :p
  6. I hope for a minimalistic UI, with different designs for each Faction.
    Please do not clutter the UI and if you have the time make it adjustable.
    Mod support would be great to!

    Hello guys! Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the kind of UI you would like. Know what? We are on the same page (yeah!). So, you can expect your UI to be minimalist yet immersive, themed by factions and adjustable (scale/position/etc.). This will be a 3rd person action game, a la Space Marine, but more tactical - so expect your UI to be similar to games like Planetside and Battlefield.     Well, let;s look at what we have to work with first.
    • Third person, over the shoulder view
    • Action melee shooter
    • Squad/clan based combat
    If this was a First person game, rain & blood splats on your visor with maybe some helmet showing would of been nice, but it won't be that way because this will have a Third person view.

    You will most likely have a minimap (you do need one for a game like this) in a corner and a shield/armor + health bar/count in the lower-mid or side of your screen. You can also expect an ammo and grenade count.

    I do not expect anything special from the UI. You will not have a list of spells and attack types. What you will have is hotkeys and maybe some combo moves for melee combat.

    Style-wise, we will still have things like blood splatters and similar effects on the HUD, even if we have a 3rd person view (think Gears of War). We are currently finding the fine line between an in-helmet style and a super minimalist style. We do want to also bring some distinction based on your faction on the HUD (not only in the menus/front-end). The key is finding the proper balance between style and function.
