But would be limited in equipment due to unlock and resource limitations on F2P, they also said that you will be able to buy a single faction if you want to instead of buying the whole game.
I see nothing wrong with F2Play playing regular ork boyz and people who want to play orks and pay for the extra bonuses of a subscription play as nobz. I think the extra health a nob gets offsets the armor value of a marine. For canon purposes lets not forget games as canon. The Dow series gave some insight into the world of orks. For books the novel Baneblade gave some insight into orks. Imperial Glory also gave how ork hordes develop from simple fungus pods. The short story Engine of Mork is from the ork perspective, Deff Skwadron, and a short in Planet kill was all from the Ork perspective. Not saying any of these make orks more powerful or awesome and some are strickly for humor but still, they offer some insight into the race itself. If you play Space Marine the game you would think 3 space marines could stop an entire Ork Waaaagh. Yes imperial guard helped a little.... (Isn't it the way of space marines to take all the credit?) Well anyway, pay to play ork players should be nobz. Especially if they offer founders packs. What better way to reward your true fans and supporters of the game than to be granted something so cool as charging onto the field of battle standing above the rest of the players that are only playing the game for free. Also nobz tend to have, or take, the better shootas and choppas, again allowing for a more balanced fight against Spess Mahreens. Don't even get me started on the awesomeness of the powerklaw! I can imagine Chaos Marines being much like space marines so that will be easy and Elder can be faster and harder to hit but they have to score more hits to kill. This is an excellent thread though. I hope the game designers take notice but above all else, this will be a bit tricky to balance as you guys have pointed out.
First time I have ever seen that acronym used for SM. I don't think F2P Ork Boyz will hurt the paid for Ork classes. The horde guys are going to be be pretty fragile compared to the MEQ (SM and CSM) and even the Eldar if they have decent body armour or persona shields. One potential advantage of the Ork Boy might be to have a near instant respawn timer to get them back into the fight quicker. In lore terms it is quite natural for Nobs, Skar Boyz, Flash Gitz, etc to have access to better and/or more exotic weapons, bionics, armour that would actual stand some chance of stopping a bolt or two. In PS2 I've seen small, well organised squads hold off many times their number of disorganised enemies, I can't therefore agree with the idea that weight of numbers will win out the day every time. Now at the moment I'm imagining something like PS2 or SM where we each have a regenerating shield and a non-regenerating health pool. If the game is like that I can imagine an Ork Boy to have a very small shield - if he even gets one. That being the case the individuals in the Horde will be gunned down very quickly. Fingers crossed that there are enough people willing to join just such a fight. These two factors combined theoretically mean a squad of Marines holding off quite a few F2P Orks. If the Horde can attack in a huge wave they can probably overwhelm the Marines. However, having watched the way in which many players will feed themselves piece meal into the meat grinder that might not happen. This is, of course, where the IRL guys who ponied up the teef come in. Hopefully, they can provide heavier fire power and/or some co-ordinadation. And I wouldn't have thought that one SM class would be any less powerful because of another being more popular or having certain abilities or simply being popular. That doesn't make much sense...so why would Orks get their classes neutered to 'balance things out'.
The pre alpha footage shows both a health and armor/shield bar. The shield bar repairs quickly after a 5 second delay or so while the health bar repairs very slowly over time. Been a while sine i watched it but i think it would take about a full minuter for health to restore from almost dead. The waagh effect could be used to boost the toughness of the orks if they are massed together.
It's been stated that Ork boyz, with full unlocks will be on par with a Space Marine if they outnuber one 3 to 1, but a single Ork boy can kill a marine solo if they player is good enough. Also an Ork Nob is going to be an elite unit and more powerful than a tactical marine, they're going to be on par with marine champions.
Hmm...those odds are kind of bad considering how popular SM appear to be at the moment. I mean they match the TT and lore but I am concerned that F2P players might get ticked off and drop the game entirely rather than pony up the cash for faction. However, IIRC the Devs have stated the unlocking a single faction isn't going to be that expensive. So fingers crossed.
