How to have primary/pistol aim hold on the same button?

How to have primary/pistol aim hold on the same button?

Taking ork shoota for an example: button for aim hold works for off hand melee/pistol setup. Switching to shoota you use aim\lock hold button to aim, which does not work for pistol.

This makes controls very frustrating cause you have to use different buttons to aim depending on the weapon you switched to.

Is there a way to use aim hold button for primary weapon that does not allow to lock?

As far as I know, no. Always Aim only works with pistols to avoid the lock-on shenanigans. No main ranged weapon that I've tried has aimed using Always Aim, you have to use Aim/Lock.

On controllers, the left bumper is the aim hold while pressing in the right stick is an aim toggle/always aim with primary weapons.

Holy shit this. When I found the "Always Aim" option, I pretty much thought "Thank god! I can get rid of this horrific Smart-Pistol bullshit." And it was amaaaaaazzzzing. Then I switched off of Slugga and my drop hit the goddamn floor. I'm pretty gob-smacked about how "always aim" apparently means "aim only with pistols".

The best way to aim down pistol sights without losing the ability to aim with a rifle is to bind Aim/Lock Hold AND Aim/Lock Toggle. Pressing Hold, then Toggle and holding both down allow you to aim pistol sights without having to lose your ability to aim with anything else or not be able to lock on.

The best bindings I've found are:
Aim/Lock Hold bound to my middle mouse button
Aim/Lock Toggle bound to my mouse button 5(thumb button)

Scroll Click for Aim, Thumb for Lock, Scroll then Thumb for pistol aim.

It must be Hold then Toggle though for pistol aiming to occur, Toggle then Hold will not work.

As mentioned before the other 4 key binding options which are exclusive for aim or lock only work for pistols only.

How is this supposed to work then if, say, you want the same button to aim for pistol and primary weapon, and just a different button for the "lock" function? I don't think you can bind the same key twice, can you?
  7. I just use Aim/Lock for pistol and primary. Bound to middle mouse button.

For the pistol or melee it auto locks and for the primary it simply aims the weapon (obviously without a lock of course).

Haha. That's funny. You want the key-binds to be reasonable.

But seriously, there's no double-binding keys (although I think there should be at least for some). It makes pistols just horrific for me. Which pushes me away from playing melee, which just... kinda pushes me away from the game. If I'm playing orks, I'm not playing to shoot things.

Found a temp solution, editing the config (at C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\EternalCrusade\Saved\Input) I assigned "Always Aim Toggle" and "Aim/Lock (Toggle)" to the same key (RMB) and assigned "Lock (Toggle)" to my mouse macro, works great. Note that smart pistols will auto lock when ADS'ing however this can be turned off by tapping "Lock (Toggle)". Oh, and "Aim/Lock (Toggle)" is called "zoom" in the config file.
