sounds cool but only if there is a rollback to before the nid invasion cause it could do some stupid things maybe a squad of chaos manage to take lots of cap points before they get eaten cause all SM have been eaten before
That might work. When envisioning this idea though I had in mind a Tyranid swarm so deadly that the last thing on people's minds would be attacking. The only thing you could be able to accomplish is survival and you won't even succeed at that.
Actually, I believe that the first thing in every player's mind would be "This is gonna be awesome! CHAAAAAAARGE!"
Indeed that may be true. Either way it would be awesome! On the other hand an easy way to fix the issue of one faction taking advantage of the others during this period would be to lock down all territory. Nobody can capture anything. Just make up the experience you might have lost by playing the game normally by rewarding more XP per Tyranid kill.
Or they can turn off PvP for the duration of the event. Which includes not being able to capture territory as well, as you mentioned.
Excellent idea. Of course as long as everyone gets kicked off as soon as the maintenace reaches its scheduled time.
I dont even think they would need to kick anyone off. Start this like ten minutes before the server window is planned and i bet no one would make it that long. Throw in a bunch of 'upgraded' enemies that swarm the battlefield. lock the territories and cancel any current objectives, but leave on the faction fire. if you want to concentrate on that eldar in front of you go ahead but the swarm is coming for you both. Then just down in the corner where the hud indicated your previous objective or whatever there is a counter that keeps track of how many enemies you have taken down; maybe for bonus xp or maybe for just bragging rights. they could even throw on the website or game information screen or something before hand about the server event and make it a part of the game. "notice: at 1640 GMT there will be another server swarm event. How many will you take with you? and then those who kill 100 enemies get a server swarm honour badge for their armour or something. This would be so awesome to implement... no matter how they do it.
