Anyone got any tips on being a good shootaboy? I feel like I am missing something essential and something isn't clicking. I got the standard shoota with a scope on it and all the bits and bobs but as I said before it feels like I get creamed in medium range shoot outs.
Steps ta being a propa shoota boyz 1) Getz all dem toufhgny trinketz to make ya look boss, a golden gob is propa flash so get that to. 2) Get yer shoota 3) now if yuz just a gitz then you just fire on ya hipz 4) but if you a propa ork with kunning then ya aim and then ya shoot 5) get the grip that improves acruacy and get rid of that scope.
Think like a kommando! Always be trying to out maneuver or attack from locations enemies don't expect. And don't be afraid to try and kamikazee people when you do. I have hopped over railings into lsm pushes just to toss grenades everywhere and lock people up with my knuckles. Sometimes other people even cover me and I survive Nothing quite as satisfying as single handedly crippling an enemy push or weakening an entrenched position so your team can clean up a transport or a point.
Thanks for the tips. Toughness, 360noscope, and be real cunning, perhaps a big shoota. I'm assuming that toughness is for damage mitigation?
The basic level gob is more than good enough stacked with the high level armour. Big shoota is better at medium range than the basic one. I use a heavy barrel and also I think its textured grip too. I also have the drum mag. I have 2 builds - one shoota and one big shoota. 90% of the success is knowing the map, knowing your opponent and knowing your own capabilities. As in dont rush in to a group of 3 or 4 guys solo etc. The best other tip I can give you is grenade shooting. Toss your grenade and then shoot it out of the air like a clay pigeon or just along the floor and then detonate it yourself with a shot from your gun. You can do this to single players or groups of enemies and instant kill at least one of em. In a group of 2-3 you can absolutely stun one and kill one and maybe even kill all of em.
Right now Im not in my computer, but if you want later I can show you some loadouts to be da bestest! Shoota boy can be a lot of things, but it has for me something like 2 strong roles and another 2 roles that are fine but situational, depending on the weapon. For instance, what you should be doing is to adapt to your weapon best scenario! Strong weapons! -Rodeo Shoota is maybe expensive, but it is a really, really good weapon if you know positioning and ambushing propparly! Big fire rate makes dakka dakka orky strong! For me is a better version of the storm/combi bolter in most of the situations. The only downside is that you cant customize it, so no cqc barrel. This is the loadout that I mostly use when I am attacking on normal maps! -Big shoota is what I think one of the best weapons for da orks. Good fire rate, good damage, a supression fire! (is not suppa biga, but is somefin!) Basically a loota with good movility and the capability to cap points, but... You should not be always using this for attack, this loadout is da best for defending! Because you will want to setup you position and not be gimped by the delayed fire. It is not bad for attack but I really prefer the rodeo in this case. Also even if I said that you should be positioning dont be like a loota, use your movement to your advantage, you are like a hybrid class with that weapon! Situational weapons! -Normal Shoota is not bad, but I feel that the rodeo makes you better in close range combat and in mid range combat Big shoota is King! So what should you do with this weapon? Well, I use it as a semi sniper weapon with a x2 scope! This weapon is situational because most maps are designed for cqc, so you will shiny with it both defending and attacking in fortress maps! Just secure your position and you will have a range advantage! Plus the scope makes this weapon a lot more easier to handle. -Rokkit launcha again, is not bad, but for me orks atm only have 2 better ways to handle vehicles: Klaws and Kannons. The rokkit is good in cqc, and with 1 superstikky bomb and 3 or 4 hits (or even better 2 stikky bombs for reasons I will say later) you should down the sturdy vehicles, and in the case of the eldars I fink is only one rokkit plus you grenades. You should be using this loadout only if you feel that you are not that good with da heavy weapons or da slugga boys, BUT a couple of shootas with this loadout could make a fine anti tank crew. So, with this said, what you should do with your lp? The best way to waste you lp is on the grenades. I always carry one, most of the loadouts I have 2. If it is the AV shoota loadout I will always carry 2 stikky bombs because it is the same damage of one superstikky bomb and it cost less, so keep that in mind. If you are playing with a friend you should be equiping all 2 stikky bombs so you can spam 4 grenades and destroy a tank. Always works. If not, you should be carrying AP grenades so you can clean and isolate enemies. It will be better to have this option rather than just stacking toughness to just recive one or two shots more. I hope this helps! For me is always granted to be in top 3 on the match!
Use a basic shoota, put a scope on it. Tank up as much as you can with the rest of your points. Hip fire at close range, scope up and be all accurate at long range. Its very well rounded and effective, aside from that its just about gameplay as in aiming well, flanking/knowing the maps and enemies positions and how to avoid/get to them, and so on.
Yes and the big shoota is good for defense but the wind up time can get you killed real quick in offense so i only use it for defense. The reason i recommend the golden gob is due to the extra hp it offers as after a certain toughness (140ish i think) the value drops off and your better off with armor and hp. That and i was giving a normal shoota load out.
