Is the plasma cannon a broken joke to you?

  1. If would enjoy this game a LOT more if the weapons actually respected the max range.

It is more noticeable with the Heavy weapons than others, but there are some that really need to not work past their maximum range listed.

There's no need to nerf plasma weapons, just make it cost so much that only veterans/elite could equip it without drawbacks. That will prevent plasma spam, and all those plasmaboys would be punished if they lack skill to use this weapon.
  3. For me the biggest Issue with the Plasmacannon is the fact that you can "cook" your shots to have a time window where you can choose yourself when to release the shot.
That's in my opinion also the reason why they are so darn effective vs. approaching Melee opponents and other Ranged Weapons.

If we look for a comparison at the Reaper Launcher Starshot Missle (The one you can direct while beeing aimed, not sure about the name) It's also a infantry instakill, allthough with lower AoE. The thing is, you can't cook the shoot. Once fully charged the shot is firing. This means you need much better timing to actually land the shots, together with the small AoE a kill is a question of skill (and luck sometimes) rather than how long you charged and your position.

I think, the Overcharge mechanic needs to be reworked for the Plasmacannon to be balanced properly.
Right now it's a funkiller, nothing more.

It'd be great if the Plasma Cannon was actually useful outside of overcharged shots... Then you could nerf charged shots to the ground (specifically their ridiculous AoE) and nobody would complain. As it stands, the ONLY reason PC's are used is because one of the firing modes is stupidly OP. The normal firing mode is mind-fuckingly useless though.

    1. Remove snapshots and give us Bolt Pistols
    2. Increase charge time by 0.5 sec, reduce blast radius. Make it so a direct hit (or at targets feet) is still lethal but anything beyond that isn't lethal, just damaging.

Here's a radical idea for the PC, hear me out now -

Give it a 0.75-1.5m damage radius, and a 1.5-3m stun radius. Both have a very steep falloff, so that at max stun radius it's like being staggered by a fast attack, max damage radius it's like being hit by a single bolter round.

Make the minimally charged shot the standard firing mode, increase its velocity slightly, add a CD between each such shot roughly equal to the current charge time +0.5s, and give it about 10% less heat per shot. Remove the ability to fire from the hip, and make it so it can only be fired if braced or crouched and ADS. On top of that, make it so the Devastator is stunned for 25% (or more) longer if hit by his own stun effect, essentially a self-imposed death sentence.

That should make it a dangerous defensive weapon with minimal offensive value. Dev can't use it to defend themselves up close, but it brings the pain in medium/long range engagements.

That is a server problem though. No matter how much you nerf the gun (cannon) these issues will remain .We need better servers and actually random spawns not what we have now.

Charge time won't make a difference. Devastators play pop-and-shoot with it regardless. If it takes longer, they will just spend a moment longer behind cover to get it charged up.

Blast radius or blast radius falloff is needed. It should only be OHK'ing if the glob hits you directly or you are literally shoulder-to-shoulder with the guy that gets hit. Right now it's OHK'ing anything vaguely near the blast. Reaper launcher should be the same.

It never even used to be like that in Alpha. It used to really hurt and stagger you, but at least it wasn't a damn one hit kill. You had a chance to try to roll back into cover and such. I really don't think any weapon should be OHK'ing unless they are absolute direct projectile hits. At least then you could say to yourself "Oh damn the glob must have hit me directly".
  9. To bring it more in line with a weapon like the Ork Kannon which is kind of supposed to be the equivalent(both have charged straight line shots, both have mortar, both have aoe explosions).

Getting to a PC is not an easy feat if they see you, if I manage to dodge 1-2 plasma charged shots I should be rewarded, not quick shotted down in 2-3 hits. Kannon can use it's ammo as a bouncing grenade shot once and have to reload, I don't see why a PC can't get less snapshots before overheat or at least get a reduction in damage.

If that is a problem, they can just have the weapon rooting you in place as it charges up. Think the hilarious first days of people blasting at walls before people develops new muscle memory. However, I agree it needs rebalancing (read: nerfs) to damage and AoE.

I don't think ranged classes need any other reasons to complain about melee, tbh. If you approach a braced heavy weapon in line of sight without flanking, you deserve to be blown to a fine radioactive powder. If anything, give ork kannon deffgun a shrapnel shot mode to deal with close range attackers.
