Because complaining is easier than understanding that a Mobile Respawn / Replenish tools is much more powerful than the weapon they are complaining about. or because complaining is actually easier than driving a truck?
I'll tell you all what I think I think this debate is moot The issue isn't how much or how little damage melta's do The issue is that somewhere with the core gameplay, something THERE is messed up, cause everything described by Dreadspectre aka Doctor Orpheus tells me something is dreadfully wrong with the core design of the game
You know, Galen, I've not seen you actually say anything useful at any point in this thread. I've put forth arguments, others put forth arguments, and your contribution to this thread has been, "Lawl, you're all wrong, and stupid, read my trolling." Sorry to personally attack you, but you seem to reply here quite often, without any actual useful information for or against. Please, I invite you to explain how Melta provides to the fun gameplay experience aside from, "Look! It's a melta like in the tabletop!" I'd also like to ask - what race do you play most? Do you play with a guild? Please explain why we are wrong about Meltas.
Oh lawdy, it's not a simulator at all, it's an arcade shooter. People like balance inside of arcade shooters. Hence why battlefield, cod, gears of war, etc are pretty popular now-a-days.
My two cents as usually I end up being the one and only running around with a melta to only hunt tanks... it's awful for infantry or anything moving, it really is @Dreadspectre from what I've gathered, on rhinos, hitting front or side does less (presumably heat buildup) but on Orks and Eldar it's relatively the same all around. Not sure if it's intentional or not, but the other part is that I don't have actual, specific numbers and it could be a health comparison. That said, against rhinos, it's been easier destroying them from behind with melta than the rest of it. So on that note, making it a more significant resistance to certain sides of armour? Would have to be hashed out though with every other weapon, or make it so melta heat isn't as potent, meh. Something to consider is ammo changes maybe, currently I can kill roughly 4 vehicles with a melta gun then it's time for more ammo. Maybe reducing that? So I don't know what the wind up is right now, nor the rotation rate while firing, the wind up used to be higher pre launch, maybe giving that a stab and seeing what happens? The rotation already seems slow enough as is, just because you're handling something that could melt your fingers out of existence doesn't mean your back power armour suddenly runs out of power and you need to move everything alone. It's....ok, tuning of course, but vehicles have always been like that and I've seen reckless driving kill too many people, senior producer and lead designer included. Same can be said for anything, and when you have experienced folks using weapons to their full potential, they become op, and understandably people want restraint.
At this turbulent time i play my LSM.And i pug because my scedule doesnt "allow" me to be in a proper premade. With that being said. There have been several posters that have brought forth "usefull" information i though that saying the same things is a waste of time. Now is the melta "fun" ...That depends on what each of us considers fun. However we have to keep in mind that this is a weapon that needs to be "kissing" the armor of the vehicle in order to kill it fast(really fast) and that said weapon is less usefull against infantry than the combat knife and its equivalents.Being a "free kill" most of the time is not fun for me but its a "role" that is needed in most if not all matches and i enjoy winning...or at least putting up a fight. However we have to remember that the devs have their data...If the weapon is OP/UP/or working as intended they will know it and will act accordingly.
