How about instead of nerfing the melta, give people xp for time spent driving. Something like the point defense bonus that will give people the incentive to actually move the vehicles around the map. Don't park it and the meltas won't get you. Or it will take a lot longer. Or they will have to tie up one of their transports to do it, giving your team an opportunity to take down one of theirs. But they should nerf the Fire Dragon speed. Playing as one of those is fucking easy mode.
I should hope the devs use their own collected data instead of forum whine - which would be beyond subjective and useless even if frequented by more than 10% of the playerbase.
This! I did speak with a dev in game and what i was told was they use "metadata" from games so keep your hopes up chum.
The melta just needs to apply less heat per tick and make it so it takes 4 full ramp ups from behind for the standard melta and 2 full ramp ups from the multi melta. This would put it on par with the orks rokks and give the fusion gun the same treatment. It would put it in a much more balanced state this would also stop the "buff rokks" responses from orks. I've found the rokks fine mostly just they can't compete with the current version of the melta the melta just needs to come down to the rokks level not the other way around.
Hopefully just this one! Melta makes vehicles pointless to have. All it takes it one single guy to go on foot or pull a tank and drive around purely melta-ing vehicles. nothing else. it doesn't take a team, it takes no coordinated effort, it takes no skill. just drive around, point melta at vehicles, kills them in 5-10 seconds. Not only that, but the who gets what is absurd about this too - Eldar have a melta class as a standard loadout that they don't need to spend requisition or a loadout slot on. SM and CSM have Meltas. Orks don't. So, Eldar has (surprise) the biggest advantage, and Orks are the most disadvantaged. I'm cool with vehicles being ABLE to be destroyed quickly... but make it take 2 or 3 or 4 people to do so. Make a single person's damage, no matter the weapon, do minuscule damage, but when added to another teammate damaging it at the same time, multiply the effects. This way you force people to use teamwork while making vehicles actually more useful to have around so that they're not killed instantly by a single person with nothing better to do in the game than that. It also ticks me off when I actually am actively defending a rhino as a jump asault - so I'm faster, more maneuverable, and hard hitting.... yet EVEN AS I AM HITTING THEM the melta laser is still going off. and all it takes, as I keep saying, is 5-10 seconds of melta to bring it to either death or near-death. Or hell. Don't nerf meltas. But increase how often vehicles can spawn. Give squad leaders control over who gets to spawn/drive the vehicles, so we can actually prevent the lone anti-teamwork guy from grabbing it and getting it killed. And as for people saying "don't leave it in the open, doy"; You must be an eldar, who can move a vehicle in any direction on the horizontal. I'm not an eldar. I'm a space marine. I can move it forward and backward, mostly slowly. too slowly to get out of the range of a melta, and DEFINITELY too slowly to escape that one eldar player who spawns a tank JUST to use it to chase rhinos with the intent of melta-ing them. Again, I'd be cool with that. If it took teamwork. but no. One guy. One single person with a melta can change the fate of a match. And that is too much power. Nerf melta.
