How many melee hits to kill? Space Marine Melee

    Say I'm using a Chain sword how many hits from a light attack and a Strong attack to kill?

    Haven't really counted because it varies a fair bit depending on their setup.

    I wanna say 3-5 fast and 2-3 power to the face.

    Pretty sure it's 2 to the back no matter the set up.

    But yeah. Then you get into variables like their armor/toughness. CSM have mark of Nurgle. Don't know what Orkz and Eldar have.

    If CSM/Eldar you have to worry about them having a healer keeping them up at which point you're boned unless they're just awful at melee.

    If they have life steal any time they get a direct hit on you makes the fight longer. I think CSM can stack Mark of Khorne with Life Steal for extra life stealing too.

    Depends on their loadout. There's no simple answer.

    Hell I've quite literally hit someone six times while having them trapped in a corner and it didn't drop their armor. Other times I get one-shot killed by a Howling Banshee attacking me head on. I don't know what's wrong with LSM melee but there's obviously something wrong with it.

    Chainsword deals 113 damage stock, and approximately 130 damage if you have the "barbed chainteeth" mod

    All entities in this game have 200 health stock and 100 armor stock, except for Orks who have (I think) 80 armor and 250 health

    Health damage is reduced if a weapon has less Penetration than the target has Toughness. For chainswords the mitigation is approximately 10% (as in, the chainsword deals 90% damage), as chainswords have 80 Penetration and most targets have 100 Toughness

    This a chainsword will generally kill most targets in 3 fast attacks to the face if they son't have any durability wargear. Most people do, generally trinkets for +8 total armor and +8 total health, a wargear item for +12 armor or +32 health, and -- if they don't have an unlockable weapon on -- their armor upgrade for +15 armor and +25 toughness. Thus don't be surprised if you need a fourth fast attack to the face

    Strong attacks deal double damage. Attacks from behind deal extra damage (I think +50%)
  6. Melee in general is broken, I wouldn't focus on SM in particular.

    I was just trying to get an idea how many hits it will take to down someone as for me it has been very inconsistent.

    I bought an AXE today and it was easier to down Xenos and Heretics alike but still sometimes I feel like hit aren't registering at all and I just from an unknown cause, probably a grenade or an AOE weapon.

    3-5 light attacks is about right, depending n opponents toughness, health and armor stats.

    Some people go tanky, some not.
