I forgot steam time played is last 2 weeks, not per week. Doh.
  2. Saeritan Saeritan Arkhona Vanguard

    And then there's @jbregg with a casual 1,757 hours (92.8 past 2 weeks).

So long as a good number of those hours are somehow throttled so they can also experience the game at 250+ and 350+ latency.

One studio making patches by using a COMMUNITY BALANCE TEAM wich includes some "veterans" who playing alot and understand most of balance problems. I think its a good practice, make a small team of players who will test patches and bring a good feedback. U should think about it

    "veteran" - "MAKE MELEE USELESS"

not a behaviour :) its a rts game

But honestly...not every their patch is good

Anyway devs must play more than 15 hours in week, at least they balance squad, 2 hours in day isnt enough to understand some problems wich happens in different circumstances

They should want to play the game - and to be effective at patching, they should have enough first hand experience with how it plays from each factions point of view.

That said, if it was me, I would use a private account that allowed me some anonymity - I couldn't imagine trying to enjoy the fruits of my labour with a pack of rabid animals screaming how bad my game was and how OP everything is :D

  9. This one is tough man, I mean yea for sure they should play their own game on a daily basis, you would think that this would be a labor of love and they would be doing that regularly because they want to.You would also think Brent in particular, but all of them in general, would be more familiar with playing the game and the repercussions of some of his/their decisions. What bothers me most is not the decisions themselves, but how half assed they are sometimes carried out.

It's like one twitch they say... "We are going to revamp the whole melee and shooting system!"

And you say,"That right there... is a great fucking idea."

But then you hear on the forums, "They never updated this weapon, or that weapon, they nerfed a weapon that didn't need to be nerfed, they nerfed a weapon whose damage system is used by another weapons and so now both weapons suck. They made this weapon OP as hell."

Then you go and check out what the other chuckle fucks on the forums are saying in the game, and sure enough.... That guy was right when he said this weapon hasn't been changed! Do they really look at and vet their patches? In my industry we create checklists to make sure that we cover every aspect of the operation we are about to perform. Would it be so hard to create a checklist of every weapon and then every weapon mod and go through and test each one individually? Especially if your goal is to change the dynamic of the ranged and melee weapons in your game? Just put a check mark next to each one you completed so you know it was done... That way you don't miss any and ruin your own patch.

    Bolter... check
    Heavy bolter... check
    Stalker... whooooaaa now...

    Armor for Tactical... check
    Armor for Devastator... check
Armor for JP...@#!$%#$!% not good man...

Don't they have a quality control guy/team whose whole job is to run through and find some of this stuff? Are they so reliant on gathering metrics and data from players playing on UAT that they have forgotten to play themselves? I don't think we will be able to answer these questions, to use my ship metaphor, we are like the lookouts on a ship who see the iceberg is dead ahead, we call up to the bridge and tell the assholes up there driving the ship that we are going to hit an iceberg, but that's about all we can do. It's up to the guys on the bridge to take that information and act on it. These guys are seriously struggling to find a sweet spot with their game and it's not happening because the attention to detail isn't there and they aren't paying attention to their lookouts because they think they know better then we do what is wrong with the game. But Wiawyr is right here, because basically in order to know what is wrong with the game, they have to be one of us, and the gut reaction from seeing them play is they are no where near one of us.

  10. Either they listen to people who play the game and ask them questions, or they play it themselves to get the feeling about what's wrong and what's right.

And as they don't seem to listen (or it takes verry long for them to realize or until it shows up in their stats) they should play themselves more often +1
