Just wondering how many people will be role playing ec as their characters . to make feel like it was 40k . with way we act with our characters . who do want rp as. For races not in or classes not in or in game . for me . I really wanna rp as thousand sons marine devastator or rubric marines. Though for moment rep as a nightlords legion raptor .
I have to admit the rubric marine Rp must be really strange to do. *I was standing on the battlefield, waiting for something to happen inside the glowing green fog that replaced my brain. After hours of standing still looking at a wall in the outpost, both feet in the broken thorax of our squad leader, my head exploded.* Epicness inside. I answered "yes" but it will be a really light Role play, not an hardcore one. I will or will not depending on the squad I'm in, as Tarl68 stated: it's a shooter. Aside yelling "For the Emprah / For the Ruinous Gods / For Khaela Mensha Kaine / For moar Dakka", Rping will be quite difficult to do. The way I understood "Rp" is like inpersonating your character, speaking feudal english for marines or Orkish for Orks, or behaving like a knight / filthy traitor / Ork / Bitch depending on your race.
Dont think there will be much of RP since it's a shooter. But I believe Orkz will be the easiest to RP. Just scream while killing others. Not much can be easier to RP then an Ork when it comes to games where you basicly only have to kill.
More than RPing i'll just speak in character from time to time. But hell, if the RP is interesting i'll end up joining.
If you're asking will I prance around Goldshire inn acting like a complete idiot, No I won't. Will I stick to command structure and act like a member of that faction would act? Probably.
I could be persuaded. Also, RP will certainly be an option for those that have a desire to do it. The fact that this is more a shooter than a standard RPG has nothing to do with it. For example, there will be emotes in the game. Also, you don't have to fight all the time as you're playing the game on your own time and can do whatever you want. You can RP on your Strike Cruiser (or w/e starship you're on), in your base while it's not under attack or simply somewhere out there in the field. Tyranid underhives seem like a good place to RP and there's also nothing preventing you from RPing while you're fighting. You can set up your squads and fight in a RP-ish manner too.
I don't think this is gonna be a good game to RP, dunno how SM are going to feel when they swarm ork bases instead of the other way around, the single ork boy killing 2 marines at a time, or your marine veteran from 30 campaigns is unable to hit a shot because you have a bad day and so on, maybe it will be possible against nids but not in the open world pvp IMO.
