How Intelligent Will The Tyranid Ai Be?

  1. I'd like to see lictors in swamp areas, like, really beasty ai lictors, almost troll like, that takes a squad of space marines to take down.

    Mainly, I am more concerned what the effects of dealing with Tyranids will be. Since I am personally quite interested in going underground, destroying hives and masses of them along the way, I would also like it to have an impact on the greater scale. I am afraid that they could turn out as a annoyance rather than an interesting mechanic if you can't do something that helps your faction in a greater scheme. For example, if a squad is battling Tyranids to keep them of your factions back, the rest of that faction could join the fight with a competing faction, which would be awesome since it has an impact.

    Just because the nids are NPC does in no way mean they can't be controlled by the Devs. Who is to say the Devs won't strategically introduce them to cause a real headache for the most powerful faction.
    Maybe the Devs will be the "Hive Mind"

    Im pretty sure the devs have confirmed in an interview that thats exactly what will happen.
    Shame i have no idea where it is.

    I remember reading the same thing. The Tyranid forces above ground will be generated and controlled like a hive mind by the devs while below ground there will be two mode:
    I'm very excited about both. The above ground Tyranids because it sounds like the devs will act as god and knock down those with too much power. I cant wait to attempt to defy them. Then the underworlds because the Space Hulk mod for L4D2 was really awesome and I cant wait for more of it! I've never cared much for hordes though, except TLS in DOW2.

  8. What I really remember from that interview is the part where one of the devs dared to kill him as a Nid.
    If I ever manage do that I'll be eternally happy.
    Or to be more specific, if I ever kill any large-sized Nid with/as equally sized stuff (Meganob perhaps?) I will be eternally happy.

    But can a 'nid open a door like a velocoraptor?

    Can it identify threat and react to damage dealt to them, so if its playfully trying to eat player A's face while player B shoots it from 20feet away is it going to finish its lunch or go explain to player B interrupting a meal is rude?

    Aso can they finish rubics cubes in under 10minutes or do my tax returns?
