It's so integral to the 40k lore & gameplay that if it's not in in some form at launch or planned to be in, I won't even bother playing. I don't want a half assed action game. I want a full action game with unique asymmetrical balance & details just described by the OP. They say Orks being "bigger" is something they would like to do but currently isn't planned. This is a big red flag. Something about the animations looking silly if you scale up the model, but I'm sure the brains over there could figure it out. Ork leaders need to be bigger and bigger the farther you go up the chain of command. It's such a part of the essence of the orks that to not have it would be a grave insult indeed.
This [-----------------------------------------------------] much, alternatively it comes down to not so much the number of features available but how well they are implemented as i wish to look unique and functional whilst throwing my kraknade under the predator, yet if i still have 200+ more play hours to unlock an immolation kraknade that doesn't send out graphical glitches making my daemonic runes go crazy pixelated i shall have a very sandy...well you get the idea.
Of course they could figure out the scaling issue. Orks would look fine scaled up, but imagine a scaled up Ork not lining up with a vehicle, or his hands not being on the steering wheel of a car or bike. Every single thing like that would require a new animation. It would be tedious because they'd have to do it for every possible scale of Ork that can be achieved
For me personally, customization is the best element of any game, especially a game set in my favorite IP. So for me any and everything added to the ideal of customizing my characters just makes my experience all the better
Well I'd even be happy with a temporary fix until they can develop it later. I'm just talking about actually on the battlefield seeing bigger stronger orks is literally a must-have, non-negotiable.
You will see larger Orks as elites and heroes. The standard classes will almost certainly never grow in size due to the ridiculous amount of work that has to be done. When I say new animations, I mean new animations for everything. Including executions, vaults, climbing, etc. Larger Orks wouldn't allow you to use cover which breaks that mechanic. They'd either have to use a standard size Shoota, or a scaled up one, both looking weird considering the animations wouldn't sync properly. Getting a large number of kills and increasing your size would make you an easier target to shoot, which they can't balance by giving you more health. That would just make Orks a stronger faction outright. It's just generally a bad idea in the long run. If they're willing to do all that work, which is essentially a new faction at this point. They might as well just add another faction instead. Edit: (I just realized they could make them larger and increase health to balance the fact that they can't use cover. But this again means balancing every map with a larger size in mind. As well as everything else in the game)
