How I'm feeling right now, even after watching the twitch stream

My feeling after the twitch stream was that the game is currently under the control of all the interns after all the original devs left. It comes across as a bunch of kids sitting in really big chairs saying "Hey you know what would be totally awesome?" I am sure all of them are very wonderful people but that does not change that each of these broadcasts along with the development handling and one PR disaster after another portraits them as really not being prepared to handle a project of this scope.

Yes the Twin Linked is farkin broken. The Storm and Combi's suffer outside of short range, but you can keep up a stream of death at long range with the TLSC with little problem.

Hey man, you're the one who seems to think others should "stop crying and learn to aim". I'm just poiting out the irony and the overall irrelevancy of the argument.

Selective viewing at its finest, ladies and gentlemen!

You may note, that if you had payed attention you would have noticed that approximately 1 minute and 40 seconds of the video was using an Apothecary, whilst the other 2 minutes and 27 seconds was with a Tactical Marine.

Additionally, I did not make this video to "show that the boltgun was "fine"", I made it because I enjoy making videos and had been playing around with a Bolter the day before I made the video. The title was something of a joke, I clearly do not believe that the Bolter is the best gun, when guns such as the Stormbolter, a simply better choice, and ridiculous weapons like the Plasma Cannon exist.

If people are interested I probably have enough footage to put together a video featuring the Stormbolter, which will be 100% tactical footage and most likely rival the streaks I achieved with the TLSC, I would have to check to be sure though.

As I've said in other places, the problems the Tactical Marine face are not due to their ranged firepower, but rather their weakness in melee combat. Their fast attacks lunge half the distance of an Eldar, Ork, or melee Marine equivalent and they (like every faction) cannot follow up a dbash with a fast attack because the stun is so short. Fix these and they would be much more viable in the close quarters they operate in, just as the Dire Avenger and the Shoota boy are.

On a final note, if people intend to use my videos, which are clearly highly edited and do not show a realistic representation of a typical match, to discuss balance then please at least tag me in the post so that I can give some context to the video, as people seem to make a lot of assumptions based on things they do not fully know or understand, and the spread of misinformation on these forums is very frustrating to me.
  5. My humble suggestion on how to make the LSM bolter viable, different from CSM and customizable;
    Specialist Ammunition.

In the same way Sorcerers can cycle through powers, they could cycle through ammo types.
Armor piercing, long range, and poison DOT. Maybe one that is very strong but inaccurate, suited for punching holes in things that are running right at you.

Imean im not saying this is the best possible solution, but it would be pretty cool to have a strong mechanic for their base trooper, and to keep them a little different from CSM! :D
  6. I say we purge him.
    With standard ammo.

I'm not the one who linked your video.

As for your opinion on the tactical: if it gets more melee power, then the entire game will be melee oriented. If the tactical gets better in melee, then we're at the point where everyone will want o melee. If it gets more ranged firepower, then the game will have both melee and ranged aspects in this game.

The upcoming increase to Marine base armour is going to help them in firefights already, if not in melee. If you also buff their weapons by anything but a very minor amount then they will dominate every firefight with every faction, even Orks. Already a Stormbolter wins a firefight against a TLSC at close range and a Bolter wins a firefight at it's intended range - medium range.

The tactical is supposed to be a hybrid between melee and ranged, not a Devastator without the downsides. Right now their melee is sub par compared to equivalents, their ranged is performing just fine against other tactical equivalents. The fact that you can't gun down a charging Ork before he can close distance in a confined space is really not a problem, the problem is that once he reaches you, you cannot feasibly defend yourself, let alone win the fight.

If Marines became the unbeatable ranged monsters you seem to want them to be, that would not increase the amount of ranged weapons that the enemy uses, it would decrease it as they would no longer be able to ever win a firefight with a tactical, and thus they would be forced to resort to meleeing them.

To reiterate, this would not make the game both melee and ranged, it would make the game LSM ranged vs everyone elses melee.

You're acting like I just said "give tacticals a D weapon".

LSM is already the designated shooting race. Why are you against us having an edge in shooting? Why is giving the bolter a slight buff equivalent to making them devastators?

The current tactical is not a well-balance of melee and shooting. The current tactical is equally trash in melee and shooting. If you think otherwise, look at many of the competitive guilds who bring at most 1 or 2 tacticals per 10 man squad when they get serious.

You can sit here and talk about your opinions all you want. Instead of talking about opinions, I invite you to take a look at the current state of the game. Only pubs and designated cappers play tactical. Other than that, there is no reason to play it, and competitive guilds have already realized that. I've played many games with the largest guilds on their teamspeaks, and I've seen them time and time again take very few bolter tacticals when they get serious. I'm talking 1-2/10, and even then the tactical is usually not armed with a boltgun. He's the anti-tank meltagunner instead.

The class (withits bolter) is literally dead weight in any competitive environment.

Crooked Xenos want your bolter to remain underpowered! They're all special interests who don't care about balance!
