Of course, we should balance guns on youtube videos where some guy shows him getting a few kills every now and then. This scientific, definitive proof is what we need to balance guns! (Notice how he's playing apothecary for most of the vid. Even people who try to prove that the boltgun tactical is fine won't actually touch the tactical.)
I only use the boltgun on my tactical and I do extremely well. Although when I'm seeing a lot of Eldar queue I'll go Stormbolter and cash XP check$ off their pretty asses.
Back in Alpha sure I would have agreed with you but now here in Live the Apoth bolter is the same bolter the Tac's have and seeing as the comment was bolters need ROF and DMG boost that is why the video is linked. The Bolter is a great weapon as long as you aim. Spray and pray is going to hurt you.
You're missing such an important point: The apoth can heal himself, others, and do poison damage in melee. And also throw healing grenades. The tactical is basically deadweight outside of capping. This is why people are bashing that video: the guy used an apothecary to show that the boltgun was "fine". I personally find it comical because even that guy won't touch the tactical class for more than like a quarter of the vid.
I play the mythical CSM bolter wielding Tactical and I don't think it's in a bad place. Would I be against a nominal increase in DPS? Well of course not, because I like killing things. Does it need it? Meh, maybe a smidgen. But I think there's a bit of an exaggeration, despite me not even bothering to shoot at Sheildbros with their sheild up because it's a waste of ammo. It's not a nerf gun guys. And for the record, asymmetric balance doesn't and shouldn't mean "we use the same stuff, but our stuff is better."
Armor increase just allows them to survive 1 second longer.. maybe.. The problem is that tactical melee is just terrible, mechanically the game punishes tactical classes.
