While I like the idea of fighting in the ruins, the fortress will only be accessible once all three outposts have been captured by the enemy. At some point they might even be on the same instance (4 maps merged into 1 large map) Beyond that, the defenders/attackers will have a setup time to prepare, plan, and organize. I'd be rather shocked if they didn't allow for prebattle movement to set up ambushes and the like, but I'd be hesitant to sacrifice too many lives outside the walls becuase they are your greatest strength. Guerrilla warfare outside the gates? Yes! Full blown fight outside the gates? I'd rather not. As an attacker, you usually fight over point A until the defenders run out of lives becuase point A is just that well defended. It's rare to see the match end before the defenders run out of lives unless the defenders are outnumbered or outmatched in skill.
Thats basically the same thing as the game mode in chivalry medieval warfare where you have to kill the enemy team's king who is hiding inside a Castle. The trick is that the king has really powerful stats and is controlled by a player.
I agree with pretty much everything except the titan cannon thing, that seems a bit much. And to add to the idea of both teams having a lives counter I think that each team should get lives added for each point they control. So for example if the orcs controlled 3 points they would get an extra 3 lives every 10 seconds. This would apply to both teams so capping and holding points would become very critical to success.
I also feel like the length of the match needs to be longer, maybe double the time of a regular match.
Haven't watched the video, but here is my biggest thing about the new map: I think 300 respawns for a 25 min match is not enough.
You'll lose the wall at some point no matter what you do, I think level designer should put more cover inside the courtyard + more turrets so the defenders can still defend the courtyard when they lost the wall.
I'd be ok if they got rid of the timer or made it obscenely long letting it come down to tickets and point captures.
I would really like to have a few more objectives to attack / defend instead of just, cap-a-point and get on to the next. I also like the idea of the attackers having a pool of reinforcements as well, as the defenders dwindle, so must the attackers. I think this will vastly improve the tactical aspect cause now when you have less than 100 lives before the 15 minute mark you can just as well give up. With limited lives on both sides it can remain exciting until the last end.
