No, Eldar melee weapons do the amazingly high 13 more damage on a fast and 22 more on a heavy because of the massive EHP nerfs that we got, in an attempt to keep melee TTK similar for us against other factions, not because of our speed and hitboxes.
I hate it though, you need to stab them with like 4 light attacks or about two heavies to gain in damage what you lost in health, but if you fight melee like me then all fights end after 2 lights or 1 heavy tops, I never gain in damage what I lost in health so I'd rather just have the health, I have to actively work to try and gain what everyone else has by default. That and a crone blade warlock which is my current main deals less than 100 damage on attacks, ouch
I understand the "someone is wrong in internet!" mode, but.... this time is the same... The TTK is balanced increasing the damage because at melee, hitboxes and speed doesn't matter (main eldar advantage at ranged combat) and eldar have less durability. So as melee is "animation-locked" and "auto-targeted", if one player has less durability, it needs increased damage under the same weapon conditions (same weapon and tier). Nothing wrong in what I said, imo I haven't checked the TTK numbers, but they should be similar between factions (maybe with orks exception as they should be better at melee). If they're not, it's wrong. 100% Agree about the Croneblade u__u
EHP is set to a formula which bE have indirectly stated they use for balancing. This somehow ties hitbox area to movement speed to EHP. Seeing as this becomes irrelevant in melee AND with smart pistols these two supposed faction advantages are simply NOT an advantage in melee which is of course a significant disadvantage.
Not only counting that smart pistol is almost irrelevant, I stopped used it against orks because it was useless, all bullets were going above them. For eldars, bolts tend to go around the target, but it doesn't matter because at least half of the bullet touch and it's enough to down them.
To be fair, this only happens with Sword weapons. LSM/CSM Knife swings can't do this, however Apoths can with Narth even though it's a "knife" weapon for some reason. However it has been shown that Eldar heavy attacks have an extra meter of reach on them over LSM/CSM, same with Orks. Orks and Eldar both have the chode range light attack that can't catch up like LSM/CSM can. Sometimes I wonder if it was intentional for "asymmetrical balance" or if something just got fudged on the numbers when they brought in Eldar and Orks.
I enjoy the melee combat, but yeah the chainsword lockon slashing is ridiculous. You shouldn't be able to catch up to a sprinting eldar just spamming that light attack. The lock on ice skating around is absurd... not to mention if they jet pack and lock on melee/smart pistol. Just need to get rid of lock on all together
Orks are pretty much better at everything. I'm fairly sure I've seen a video compairing all fast and strong attacks of all factions and the difference was only shown after like 5 attacks and it was very marginal. It was a while ago though.
Saeritan did a new thread, "Dispelling Myths about Orks" that has fresh video comparisons. On average it looks like LSM Swords swing 1M farther on FA than Orks/Eldar but Orks/Eldar had 1M longer HA than LSM.
