How does scorpion stealth work?

What annoys me more its not the fact that the enemy can see me, it is the fact that some can and some cant depending on their settings, it ends up being a inconsistent mechanic because of it.

Or some are paying more attention and others arent.

dude its not invisible its camouflage , if you near their aim mark or their face they can see you as part of ground have vibration or like water steam when you sitdown and start moving its hard to see you if they not focus so most of the time try move near wall and hide too can be useful , if they hind behind something it will still you can see their head , but if you hide behind something its very hard for them to see your head camouflage its near impossible , ask me about Strike Scorpion its my main class i will answer you

I THINK I agree with omar (sorry I couldn't translate your post entirely^^).. Scorpion has been my main class for a while too and I have to say Scorpion stealth actually works pretty well at a variety of distances. Getting caught in the open is unadvisable (though sometimes it's unavoidable) but so long as you're in an area with plenty of obstacles or low light you generally blend in pretty well.

I can't say how many times I've come out of stealth, downed a Marine and then run around the corner and covered against the wall to jump back in to stealth.. and the Marine ran straight past me.. In a fast paced environment you would be surprised just how well that 'Predator'/'Halo' kind of stealth works.

The idea currently is as everyone else described and if you have your graphical settings below a certain point it WILL seem like you're entirely invisible. This does need to be address (and probably is being addressed) as it makes things more difficult both from the perspective of someone playing Scorpion and someone fighting Scorpion.

As a matter of interest, any of you LSMs/CSMs with your graphics on low able to confirm whether Scorpion goes completely invisible?

Depends on the situation. Lot of people are really stupid about it from what I'm seeing. Example, I'm sitting at C point on Blackbolt raining some (Un)holy plasma fire down on advancing Eldar only to hear the elevator come up. I look over and there is no one on it (SCORPION SENSES ARE TINGLING). I keep looking that direction and...sure enough...here comes the shimmery cloaked form of a Scorpion crouch walking out of the little building the elevator drops you off at. Naturally I turn him into a pile of limbs and "WTF HOW DID YOU SEE ME!?"

Others play it smart, they stay cloaked in obscure places and wait for you to pass by before ambushing you. I've even run into Scorpions who were crouched in the middle of the open because I didn't expect them there. If you aren't looking for the shimmery air and they're sitting still it can be hard to see them while on the move, but if you know they're there they can be spotted with a little effort.

TLDR: SS players are more obvious than they think they are.

Here's my feedback on Scorpions stealth.
Works better in shaded areas than in full light.
If an enemy is on the go running somewhere it's quite easy to sneak pass them (key is stop moving when they approach and keep that crouch on).
I did notice that on Harkus Fortress if I'm fully cloaked in the pipes not moving, anyone can see me from the other end of the pipes (thats like about 70 meters right?)
Sometimes its a great utility, especially when camping a point thats being captured, or hanging around an obvious vantage point on which Devastators/Havocs come along to brace their weapons.
But sometimes it seems that no matter what you do in full cloak mode an enemy can see you from ridiculous distances, I'm talking 50 meters+, which kinda defeats the purpose of stealth.

I do agree with the above, since I've had numerous experiences where Stalker Bolter users single me out. Generally I just pick another line of attack or entry (since once you leave their tunnel vision they don't really care), however I think it really has something to do with exactly what is behind/around you that is being refracted. Either way, running across open terrain isn't fun for the Scorpion.

They should implement a system that provides differing levels of Stealth based on where you are and what you are/aren't doing.

    For example:
Still, Crouch, Dark, Cover could each individually provide 45% Stealth, meaning if you were Still and Crouched in the Dark you would have 100% Stealth. If you started to move but were doing so along Cover you would still have the 100% Stealth.

Additionally, players could have an Active Stealth ability with a bar that drains as it is used and refills when not in use that would provide the player with 50% Stealth. Even if you were out in the open during daylight, provided you were Still you could use your Active for 95% Stealth.

Warlock Conceal would provide 50% Stealth to the Warlock and all Eldar nearby(I.E. within 3 to 5-meters), allowing them to gain extra Stealth from the Still/Crouch/Dark/Cover modifiers to reach 100% Stealth so long as the Conceal effect stayed active.

Things like Flashlight attachments for weapons/players could remove the Dark bonus and Grenades/explosions could temporarily remove the Still bonus in a moderate area, providing players with active means of reducing enemy Stealth.

During night maps the outside would provide the Dark bonus but building interiors could be lit up, reducing how many Dark areas are inside. A mutator for maps could be a lightning storm, whose periodic lightning strikes briefly remove the Dark bonus from the map.

Which does not make sense. Being physically closer to or having their reticle closer to you should not reveal you. Being closer to you should make it easier for the human person playing the game to notice the Scorpion, as should having their reticle closer to you as that is where the eyes typically focus.
  10. Having played as the SS and versus, I can really say this needs to be improved.

When defending as Chaos I could spot SS' so easily I started feeling genuinely bad, I could see them from super far away without even having to aim at them, which often made me simply decide not to shoot the poor blob as I see him crawling around doing his utmost not to be spotted.

the thing you people say about shadows doesn't seem to add up for me, it might just be my eagle eyes but I can see the distortion the supposed stealth field makes so easily the only time I got killed by SS is when they came up from behind and I've never even looked in their general direction.

Not sure if that's more the graphical glitch talking or the simple fact that it IS to easy to spot them, but I'm leaning toward it being to easy. I've literally not even had to aim at them with a bolter to know where they are, which I think should be required. You'll always spot that poor little distorted blob crawling alongside the railing of the stairs hoping that it'll help with not being spotted.
