I am not that good with shooting-games, but I can handle this one Learn how to use one weapon first (I suggest long-ranged if you got problems with timing), spot enemies and attack from behind if its possible. Fight unfairly, camp behind corners, follow your team. You will learn as everyone else did.
As ranged? Positioning is key and you learn the best positions the more you play and observe how the enemy team plays. Generally speaking it's like in any shooter, you learn to recognize how the map flows and can position to meet it or as I'm fond of doing...get behind them. It's amazing how many people don't look behind them until they're under fire. Ranged can't really compete with melee at the moment once they're on you (Unless you're an Eldar, then you have the speed to get away), so best you can do is d-bash, try and get them to back off or miss, then put a barrier between you and them. Enemy and (sometimes) allied corpses act as good barriers to their melee swings and also climbing up on top of large boxes.
At the OP: You don't play this game, it plays you. You paid money for an unfinished, alpha lobby shooter that is buggy, laggy, and clunky. It is the most non-intuitive shooter game I have ever played. There is no guidance on where to go and bad conveyance on what is happening on your screen. Not to mention there are still server delays when transmitting information and updating your client on what's happened in combat. Unless they fix the core issues, this game not going to last. :|
Yeah, what pretty much everyone is saying. The learning curve is a pretty big one so don't lose faith. Infact you don't even have to kill many, as long as you heal people, destroy vehicles, cap points or decap them you are still a great asset to the team. And yeah, joining guilds its also a good way to learn the ropes plus you learn a lot of team play that way.
I would first stick with a large squad and time to run with a group. I would start off with a tactical or Dev. This way you can get a feel for the game, the maps, the pace of the game. You will want to play tight and strategic. I wouldnt try to run and gun. Learn the maps, feel out the range of weapons and you can ask for help. There are various guilds that will help as well. I would guild up and work with people. Its a lot of fun. Also you can search Eternal Crusade PvP on youtube and check things out. Hope it helps. Good luck !
Get enough points from playing matches to purchase a Meltagun for your Tactical/Shoota/Traitor off the store(10,000) RTP. Or just spawn a Fire Dragon if your'e Eldar. Drive around in a Transport looking for enemy vehicles. Fine one, drive up behind it, hop out, meltagun enemy vehicle until it explodes, hop back in your vehicle = profit. That will get you some easy exp and give you a hand at mastering some game basics. If melee enemy gets in on you roll away, switch to knife/pistol, roll, shoot pistol, stab, Defensive Bash(hold right and left mouse same time) and do your best.
Guys stop saying theres a big learning curve or skill gap because its and artificial one. People just aren't used to such clunky and wonky mechanics.
New Yeah uh... honestly. If this is the gameplay I can expect... I'd rather come back in another few months and give it another shot. Currently just considering to write it off as a mistake. I'm rather not going to slug it out for hours after hours doing nothing but respawning. I'm giving it some more shots, but if a game is THIS inaccessible... Yeh, sorry. No. I was put off by the state of the game months ago, hoping things would get better, less clunky, less obscured with release. I remember fondly the old days of Battlefield 1942...You instantly understood. You could kill stuff semi reliably.
