I am talking when they spam axes and power axes. Their power attacks charge so fast, yet my fast attacks just won't interrupt them. I am fast attacking and he is power attacking through it and stunning me. How do I fight them? Do I cheese it and just go PC/Auto-Cannon type weapons and suicide-nade if they get close? On another note, anyone else experiencing a breaking of the RPS system when they fight Orks, or is just me?
I made a whole thread about this from the orky perspective. I have found that every race experiences "Le bullshit" when it comes to melee muckin up. Counters not countering and hits phasing through opponents. Hell, just today a Shieldbro and my slugga charged a power attack at one another and instead of clanging we went right through each other. Boy, was dat right orky then.
Fast or slow, whatever weapon I happen to be using, power swords and chain swords interupt everything I do. Spamming fast attack seems to be the answer, and dont worry about stun, just spam fast attack again afterwards.
Currently live in Baltimre? No problem! have money and can move to Baltimore for immaculate ping and consistent Melee hit detection? Sweet as! Pay to win with an Airline near you!
Most Ork players are rocking some form of an Axe. Most Ork players like to spam Power attacks. Take a Power Maul and spam them with Light Attacks. Sometimes you might want to do LA/Dbash if you realize they aren't truly terrible Ork players. Otherwise you're usually safe doing LA/LA/Dbash becuase most players will try something else on the 3rd swing. If they roll back from you, it's tricky. They're either going to roll back and try another Power attack(probably 75% of the time) so you can again LA into them or they might queue up a DBash after the roll anticpating your LA. If you're a Tactical the same rules kind of apply but Knives break easy so it's going to be really hard. I suggested the Maul as well because it is the only weapon outside the PF that will cause axes to break, especially if you put a Clash mod on it.
3 rounds to kill an Ork. Ahaha. That's a good one. That only works if it's an Ork using an Ace Dakka. 'Cause you know, the highest health melee faction also needs one of the best ranged weapons in the game.
Currently? You don't. Premise: I've been playing successfully melee since the start of founder access, when it was a broken mess so underpowered you usually had 2 to 3 melee players, top. Currently, when in CSM or Eldar matches, I'm usually on top 3 of the chart, almost always with crusader commendation. With CSM, zero issues, I either win or lose fights depending on who's stronger between me and my opponent. Eldar, the same, it's a bit more quick paced, but apart some dodgy oneshots, I can tell when I'm outplayed, and usually kill my opponent when I'm not. Against orks? I use a bolter (I just refuse to use the plasma cannon until it gets rebalanced, it's just too cheesy). Only melee I use against them is my wp, and just because I'm forced to use it if I want to support. Against orks, there's no RPS. You're forced to use rock (fast attack), because anything else gets you killed by their power attack spam, and your rock doesn't even counter their scissor: since ork power attack has basically no windup and is all swing, your fast attack just clangs off. I shouldn't be clanging, I should be butchering my opponent. The only thing sort of working is spamming fast attack with a power maul. This way you can sometimes win, if you're against a brain dead opponent. If you use anything less than a power maul, you basically can't win, and even when you do, it isn't satisfying (or, in other words, fun) as if you outplayed your opponent, like you can do against other factions. It's just luck and dumb opponents, so I just use a tactical, put up as long as I can stand, and when I'm fed up I just opt out of orks matches.
