I used to play the hell out of Warhammer Online back in the day because I was a tad bored with early WoW. I heard 40k tossed around a few times in the chats, so I decided to do further research into the story I already found fascinating. Upon looking up it's 41st millenium counter-part, I think I spent roughly four hours in my chair just looking through things in on the Lexicanum website.

...Then I spent money on it.

I'm in the hobby since i was 10 . I started with the tabletop where i only painted awful "THINYOURPAINTZ" levels of bad models .

I was introduced to it through a friend in school back in the days of Second Edition, whilst on a School trip. I thought it was interesting but paid it no further thought.

Half a year later I came across a store local to myself, which I would later learn was actually a relocation of the first London/UK store when the building of said original store deteriorated and had to be torn down.

I was given a demo game between Orks, back then called Space Orcs, and a Space Marine chapter (I forget which one.) I picked up a starter kit of paint a couple of Space Marine models and settled on the Ultramarines. Things went from there and I was an avid and active collector/player well into 4th and 5th Editions, at which point my local store closed and I found myself lacking the time and money to continue and look for a new store.

A couple of years later I heard of Space Marine and picked it up, so now I have the urge to get back into the tabletop side but still lack the time and money, as well as space.
  4. Introduced by a friend who suggested me to join their 40k club back in the 4th edition. I thought why not try, and when I saw it...lets just say I wanted to play it so badly.

I couldn't choose choose a race, when my friend mentioned the Tau and I saw what they looked like I was literally in love.. :/

Anyway, I got myself a Tau battle force at first, followed by some battlesuits and a Hammerhead(well, who doesn't want a Hammerhead) And it kinda went from there...

Sadly though, my studies are starting to get to me, I want to play 40k but I just need to study.

And the fluff is awesome, that's what made me go into it as well.

  5. Went to a GW at the mall in the early 2000's because I was bored and wanted to see the "little army dudes". Went through a SM codex on the shelf and fell in love with the art and lore, bought some HH art books, eventually the Black Templars codex, SM codex, and then started piecing together my BT army and reading anything 40k in sight.

I first started not with Warhammer 40k but with the Lord of the Rings miniatures about four years ago. One of my friends introduced me to them when I was at his house and I was quickly hooked, buying my first models a few days later. He also showed me a few of his 40k models and I loved the idea but I didn't really get into it at that time.

It continued this way for about a year when I saw in a Warhammer 40k book on sale. This was the book Ravenor (One of my personal favorites still). I was instantly draw into the world of 40k and I started collecting the tabletop game of it as well as the books. I never looked back...

Originally I stumbled across the models at a Wizards hobby shop. Though the store itself wasn't very impressive and as such I never took an interest.

But when Dawn of War came out on PC I was just so OVERWHELMED! It had amazing squad control, melee combat and super humans in kick ass power armor. After playing the game I did some research into the hobby and slowly built up starting armies from the Battle of Macrage.

In Time I found my army. Even now I find myself struggling to settle on a single color scheme.

Oh throne, i think it was you that started my obsession busa! my friend was showing me some of your videos, and i wanted to actually get the bleeding jokes, so i read up on the fluff, and decided i really liked it, which is why i purchased a BA codex and army soon after, i expect reimbursement soon.

I wandered into a Games Workshop with my parents when I was really young and thought the models looked badass.

However I was lost after that until I got a hold of the first Dawn of War games when they released the platinum edition.

I orignal came to Warhammer 40K through a friend of mine. His father painted the figures and so did he. I played Tau for a bit but had left the model side because back home there was not enough people to regularly play with to keep my interest at such a young age. I have followed it for the years since then though.
