How can we integrate TEQs, Dreadnoughts, Bikes tactically into EC?

    TEQs:
Lot's of armour, life and toughness, but cannot sprint. Would suck on open battlefield, but would be great 1. if you put them into a transport and drive them right up to the enemy 2. in Tyranid-dungeons.

    Dreadnoughts:
Very tricky, because they are essentially melee, but slow and big. Again, mainly for confined areas.
Will be useless, because they will die en masse every time somebody with a Melter shows up.
"I have returned to ..." Aaaaand dead.

    Bikes:
Apart from the problem of programming an open-topped vehicle, there is no battlefield-role for bikes in EC.
What is their advantage? They are so fast that they can 1. rapidly go to where they are needed and 2. get barely hit.
What are the maps in EC like? Full of obstacles, wreckage, tank-traps and maze-like buildings where Bikes cannot drive fast.

    On the other hand...

Bikes would have a battlefield use, if we pair them with drop-pods (basically Rhinos that fall from the sky and cannot drive).
Instead of transporting a single character behind enemy-lines (who dies anyway within seconds), the Bike would serve as a homing beacon for drop-pods and would allow to call in a drop-pod behind enemy-lines.
Instead of a tactical weapon, the combo Bike + Drop-Pod would be a strategic weapon.

There are ranged Dreadnaught variants, plus the solution is bigger maps.
    AddyRedrum likes this.
  3. Dreadnaughts would work fine enough, dunno how they will be implemented when the resource system doesn't exist yet.
    AddyRedrum and Kaldor-Draigo like this.

    That's how I imagine TEQs:
    • A lot more survivability and firepower than normal units.
    • Can sprint, but cannot turn while sprinting and it takes some time to stop(kind like Heavy Weapon Specialists have it right now, only more significant).
    • Cannot use transports, but can spawn on them.
    • Cannot vault or climb obstacles.
So basically, they have limited mobility, so it's not a good idea to have too many of them, but using them properly can be very effective.

terminators are already fitting the game.

dread can work, but probally need new maps or map adaptation (for not getting stuck every 10meters).

bike require new maps: and i think maps for bikes are already planned because bike are already done as 3d models.

i think we can consider bike as the vehicles equivalent of jump troop and hawks

No idea for single manned bikes, but in Eldar case, the 2 person Vypers will most definitely find their place on the battlefield with their possible armaments. Think of light version of single weapon, customizable Falcon.

So, just a question. What would the Eldar equivalents be? For Orks, you can add the Bike, Mega-Armoured Nob and Killa Kan/Deff Dred.

But what for Eldar, Jetbike, Wraithguard(?) and a Wraithlord(?).

If we go down Dreadnaught path, the Eldar equivalent would cause lots of problems.

In fact, how could Dreadnaughts work at all? Lascannons and Meltas would shred them.

wraith guard with all the variation.

Eldar TEQ definitely aren't a problem.
Dreadnoughts and equivalents, I can't see that working without specifically designed maps for them, they have no place on any of the current maps for sure.
Eldar jetbikes, both solo and Vyper are fully valid options, in fact, I can't see Vyper not being vastly superior to any other bikes.

To be honest the first thing that needs to be fixed is meltagun damage. Right now it reduces any vehicle to a non threat even with vehicle defenders.

Destruction of vehicles needs to be a group effort, not a single git with a hairdryer
