    Here's the reason. ^_^

Our territory won't be scary, but I am curious how they try to do architecture (or don't) given that the Eldar don't enjoy static emplacement or fortifications and don't usually plant permanent structures on planets they're attacking. Such structures lend themselves to wars of attrition the Eldar just can't fight.

    Necrons.
Remorseless, implacable soulless agents of ancient godlike powers that have lain dormant since the earliest times waiting for life to flourish again in quantities sufficient to fit their appetite... but now the stars are right and they have begun to reawaken from their aeons long slumber to feast.

Oh wait! sorry, Matt Ward ... [sound of vinyl record scratching across the tracks]

    Necrons.
Zany metal space egyptians that keep godlike pokemon in poketesseractballs.
Supposedly they're soulless, but damned if that seems to make the slightest difference to them.
They enjoy dressing up and trolling the other races by stealing their most sacred relics.
After pretty much conquering the universe they decided to go to sleep for aeons because... because.... just for the lulz.

I would like to see the game as grimdark as possible, but that is quite difficult with a game such as this. I played WH: Age of Reckoning back when it was somewhat popular. When I was in a Chaos Warband charging down upon some hapless servants of Order I felt we were somewhat scary...but that was on a RP server and people bought into it pretty well. On the other servers...well as soon as you see someone named "XGhostRyder360CALLOFDUTYX" it is a constant reminder that you are playing against some 12 year old kid rather than a hulking Ork Nob or Chaos Space Marine.

For the horror elements of 40k to be properly portrayed in this game, I think it's necessary to include the option of RP servers and to also ensure there is an appropriate mature rating to include the elements of 40k that are certainly gruesome and terrifying.

I couldn't agree more. Maybe when you spawn in your character could be randomly assigned a unique suitable lore friendly name with their player name below in parentheses, so in the case above they may be (for a loyalist marine of the Ultramarines):
    Brother Antonidas Parcival
    [xGhostRyder360CALLOFDUTYX]

I could only imagine it would, like many other MMOs, have a username and separate character names. Username can be whatever but the character names could be somewhat regulated. My username would certainly be the same as the one here but even then my character name would be something appropriate to an Eldar. Naturally, they will have to be regulated or monitored to some extent to ascertain that the names are reasonable...

For example, no titles, because they might actually have some in-game ranks. I don't really want to see any Brother-Sergeant Brother-Captain Bilko's running around...or Farseer Autarch Eowyn's.

Yea, I'd like character names to only be 40k suitable. Usernames can be Xx_4lordaron_xX for all I care
  8. These elements sound like they belong more in the underworlds rather than the regular battles, but I see your point.

The atmosphere (of a game) is all about color and sounds. Add obscure shadows on the periphery of the screen, choose faded, depressing colors for landscape, avoid bright colors for environment, add some ambient noises, scratches and distant screams - viola you have your horror elements. Eldar may and, IMO, ought to be frightening by their 'inhumanity' - first of all movements animation, secondly by colors combination and hue. All mockup should be altered for that reason, to add the hint of inhuman anatomy, check Pan's Labyrinth movie for example. There are lot of examples in the gaming industry of excellent atmospheric games: Thief series, Scratches, Pathologic, Turgor, etc.
Arghhh, damn, I wish I could contribute to the creation of EC...
