Holofields.

Discussion in 'Eldar' started by Lichtbringer, Jul 28, 2014.

  1. Do you guys think our vehicles will get Holofields? http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Holo-Field

I am pretty sure they will, but how will they be implemented?
Like actually it's hard for the enemy to see them, or more like 25% chance to "evade"?

I think that Holo-fields won't let Eldar vehicles to be targeted by weapons with a lock-on system and, like you said, they will give an higher chance to evade hits.
  3. Why not let Holo-fields do their job like in lore, actually distorting the visual appearance of eldar vehicles?

Because thats a giant pain to implement if I remember a discussion people had about them.

That was the debate and it's still ongoing given we have no idea how the devs want to do them. Defense buff and some particle effects? Easy. Twelve blurred and post-processed shadow-clones of your tank alongside the other four tanks next to you? Eeeh....

Only this one...and this one...and some cursory discussions that are relatively sporadic. I think it's fine though since both of those other threads are old as hell and Lichtbringer would've had to necro them.

I think it'd be best if they couldn't be locked on by lockon weapons and were slightly blurred for non-Eldar. Completely adhering to lore could be a bit taxing for the server if there's a whole phalanx of super-distorted Wave Serpents plus illusions arriving in a battle full of psykery, artillery, and other particle effects.
