"Bleed faster" sounds like it isn't an instant death and might draw up some misconceptions. After the first time though you would be familiar with how it works, right? Heck I'd say "bleed faster" sounds more brutal and has more flavor.
What misconceptions did you have in mind? For the record, most deaths in EC will not be instant when you run out of health. Most of the time (unless taking massive damage above and beyond "typical" combat damage, you'll enter a "downed" (dying) state when you run out of health, and will then die shortly thereafter if you aren't healed or otherwise attended to by someone. Meanwhile, the enemy is free to continue shooting you or execute you at melee range if they can do it without getting struck down as well.
LOL I for one will be pressing that key like mad when it appears... to rejoin the action ASAP, to deny the enemy their jollies in sucessfully preforming an execution, and because an increased gusher of blood spouting from my dying body would be fun
Usually in a game when I see a button prompt like "bleed out" I'd think "press button to respawn". "Bleed faster" makes me imagine it would just make the downed state's timer go faster to die quicker. It's just a small thing I mentally tripped over, maybe others would have done the same.
I agree and feel the same way. The only way I expect this mechanic to make any sense is a fixed downtime and a fixed hold timer. Ex. When downed, you have 15 or 20 seconds to potentially be rezzed by a teammate. If you hold the bleed out button you'll die in 3 seconds. This gives teammates a chance to pick people up, and also gives downed players the risk/reward of potentially getting a rez vs giving an enemy an execution kill because they waited too long to hold for bleed out and now the enemy is on top of them with a whirring chain axe. That way they can't just tap respawn as an enemy is 1 step away from them and instantly deny the incoming execution -- but also removes any potential of tedium/PITA factor that holding a button for an uncertain or overlong duration every single time you got knocked down would bring.
Ask exsanguination style of GoW (Gears of war, of course), to move crawling to reach a safe place etc ...
