What do we think about adding an arming timer to meltabombs? Something between 1 and 5 seconds where you have to hold g and arm the bomb before planting it. Vote above and discuss below.
1-2 Seconds, but shooting the Bomb-planter interrupts the arming of the Bomb, and the Bomb no longer explodes while in your hands and somebody shoots you
It's been a while ago, but i still think if you hold the G Button your character holds the Meltabomb in his hand (similar to grenade holding / throwing) and if someone shoots that thing... bewwwm
I voted for "No" because I have no explanation or argument supporting the idea of having a timer and don't seem to see, personally, why a timer is necessary. This seems like a balance poll that has nothing to do with lore so I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. Do people consider the meltabomb to be too powerful? It's 4 times the price of a frag grenade. It isn't worth it for me and if it had a timer it'd only be less worth it.
Im sure OP want's to tackle double-meltabomb Firedragon especially. And to some extend he is right. Mounting any meltabomb is quite easy, and the effect is tremendous. So making it a little harder should be OK in my book
Kinda against a long setup time because even if a transport is being defended (guy manning the turret) and you manage to juke him enough to get into a blindspot, a setup timer lets him take the time get into the driver's set and get away. @Slayer88 they're Anti vehicle weapons, slap one on the back of a vehicle and half it's HP is gone.
hmmm...... I like it. There's some things that would need to be sorted out though. The timer for instance would need to be balanced over time. It would be unwise to give it a fixed time now. Have it be tested out and see if it works in a real scenario (you can't do this, but the devs CAN.) That's why I didin't vote on your little poll. Another thing is what is the defuser going to get for a successful defuse? Im thinking more xp than your average kill, but I'm bound to get disagreements on this. How long should a defuse be? this has the same problem as the bombs timer itself. So it's a good idea, but it needs to be expanded and detailed for practical use.
I vote no, because the melta bomb is already obsolete as two krak grenades do almost the same damage and are cheaper. If the melta bomb also has an arming timer no one will use it at all. At the moment I still use it as I find it more convenient than krak (just a personal matter) but would stop so if I need to stand 2 seconds still....its a death sentence (see d-bash). Btw just a side note because we speak about melta bombs: for all the people who rage against fire dragons. Take a melta gun and a melta bomb and you be able to do the same to wave serpents as they to your rhino. 1 man is enough to take out a wave serpent by sticking the bomb to the heck, go as near as possible blast the melta gun until the bomb explodes and use your i-frame to dogde away. Insta-kill of wave serpent in max 3 seconds by a single person. Have 3 guys on the map hunting wave serpents and you are half done with the match. (best combination is two guys with melta one with krak bundle the other with bomb...stick together)
