I don't think it goes against lore at all. To be a Space Marine without a helmet, or an Ork/Eldar/Heretic. I can go into my books and find sections were a Space Marine doesn't have a helmet on. I personally am for the norm and having the option to hide your helmet and show it. A simple UI/Interface option in the menu/character screen.
And in every single of those cases, the Space Marine that is helmetless takes more damage to the head. Thats what im trying to discuss here. For Space Wolves, the increased senses, for everyone else, the spit would be a nice option. k
There fino is right. I am against forced helmets, becouse of lore, im gonna play a spacewolf and spacewolves senses are better than the auto sensess that the helmets have, and lore wise will take of there helmets at allmost anytime possible, even after breaching an astroid or a hiveship.
The question then remains if your prepared to go without a helm totally, or if you want the option to hide a helm you have equipped
Without helmet or just have it clipped to my belt or something. An invisible helmet just sounds wrong.
Again it really all comes down to how the customisation of equipment works in game, I think its safe to assume that your character will have slots for armor pieces like in THQ SM, which was 9 slots... helm, left/right shoulder, chest, backpack, left/right vambrace (arms/gloves), left/right greave (leg/boot) Its also safe to assume that a brand new character will come with all those slots filled, no-one going to suggest we start the game in our underwear, I think that new found/earnt/brought versions of armor wont have newer/better stats but will basically just be a reskinned customised appearance. My guess will be that like THQ SM new options for customisation will be unlocked/found/purchased but you never actually pick a piece of armour up and physically put it into a slot like many MMO's have you do, If thats the case then therefore youll never be able to remove an item of armor from a slot, you just change what the item in the slot looks like via an options page, I'd imagine there will be slots for various other things like cloaks, trophies, seals, awards etc etc and by earning/purchasing these youll unlock an option for that slots appearance...in this case from empty (nothing earnt/brought to fill it) to showing whatever it is you now have. If this is how it works...does that change anyones opinion on hidden helms?
Devs have said we will progress our character skills and they have said we will progress our weapons...I havnt seen anything that says we will progress our armor, Thats why I suspect that armor variety will be a cosmetic thing rather then better stats armor like in other MMO's
and we know that enemies wont be dropping loot like most mmo's either so the way they work by finding new items to constantly improve your gear isnt going to happen in EC
