Like I said earlier if you're wearing power armour then it should look like power armour, it matters little if you can paint it a multitude of colours, put insignias on it or even have a choice to display it as MK I,II.II,IV,V or VI power armour so long as it looks like power armour and I know what I'm shooting at. If shooting someone who isn't wearing a helm in the head means I do 20% extra damage I do not want anyone having the option to hide the helm that they are wearing as it will cause me to spend valuable seconds taking extra care picking my target and aiming at their head when I should be opening up on the squad with automatic fire.
Then maybe they should be limited to carrying a single heavy weapon in plain view as their main weapon and having a pistol holstered, have a logical limit on how many weapons can be carried. You have a missile launcher, great it's a shoulder mount and stays there, you want to fire a bolt pistol you can pull it out of your holster while you support your missile launcher with your other hand (no boltgun as they are 2 handed), you want to pull a melee weapon, sure throw your missile launcher on the ground and hope no one picks it up. You want to carry 2 heavy weapons? Nope that's physically impossible, summon a warbike out of thin air? Nope run to a depo and spawn one. That's the sort or realism I want, not someone who has a backpack with 5 suits of armour and 12 different weapons to choose from the they can pull at a moments notice. Hell do away with the ability to carry more armour and weapons than you can equip.
i agree with you m8 i think when regarding weapon loadouts EC will be similar to SM ( devastators having access to only 1 primary weapon and a pistol/knife combo)
I think people arguing over something so simple Is a waste of a good thread, having to take more damage to the head just because I want to show my facial scars/implants is kinda silly. A don't or do show setting seems like a good idea to me.
It's not about you having to take more damage to the head because you want to show your facial scars, it's about me knowing if or not you're wearing a helm so that I can cause you extra damage to the head. The problem could be solved by giving you a "hide headslot" button and giving me "view other player's headslot button" so you can toggle your headslot for when you look in the mirror but I can still choose to see your helm or what ever you have equipped.
Basically put it's quite simple. If wearing a helm has no effect on the game or not (say it's just a simple AC boost) then I don't care whether or not you display it. But if shooting you in the head gives me a damage bonus and a helm mitigates or eliminates that damage bonus then I have a right to know if or not you are wearing a helm, which would make a "hide head slot" button a form of cheating in my opinion. (and that has noting to do with how you wish your character to look).
If helms give more then just a simple AC boost, Wouldnt it be just as easy to assume that any character you see without a helm is hiding their helm?
That entirely depends on if or not other items can go in the head slot instead of a helm. Isn't the game about tactics and tactical use of the right weapons at the right time, shooting the correct targets to get maximum efficiency? To me your question is like asking "isn't it easierr to assume every Ork is wearing heavy armour instead of the cosmetic flak armour he is displaying?" The answer is no, it's not I want to be able to see what people are wearing so I know if a head shot gives me an advantage or if it's better to fire my slugga or rush into CC with my choppa, or throw in a stikkbomb.
