Well, Battlefield, Red Orchestras disagree with you. The point of being suppressed is that you cannot shoot back, if you can shoot back normally then what is the point of suppression? I've been suppressed many times, and I will say that it's not very punishing, because the cone of effect is small and you can easily roll out of it. Plus the HB most of the time can only suppress 1 person, so you just need to relocate and you're fine. And you're wrong again, the HB was so good that it was the top choice for any Devs/Havoc, only the recent bug/OP weapons that have it less used by players, but that's a balance issue, not a problem of the suppression itself. Also, no LMG in any game can actually cover 180 degree arc, though the HB can profit from having the arc increase a little more. Players don't like losing control of their characters? Yes, most don't. But is it necessary? Yes, it is. Does it have anything to do with the success of a game? No if done correctly. For example, Dota 2, 1 of the most played game in the entire world, has a shit tons of things that will take the control of your character away from you (stun, silence, slow, doom, sleep,etc... you name it), however, people don't ask to remove those effects, instead they learn to avoid/counter it, like they should. You don't want to get the suppression effect, learn how to avoid/counter it. The choices are limitless: As Tactical, learn to relocate, use cover, flanking. As melee, you're literally unaffected by suppression, yes, it blurs your screen but that's it, a little zit-zacking easily counter the effect. And when you get close, the Devs/Havoc is as good as dead. Increasing the damage of HB literally does nothing about its ability to suppress, it just increases the risk of the HB being the next OP weapon. Now, the normal bolter has TTK of 1.23s at medium distance, for the HB to be able to suppress the Tacticals with normal bolter, its TTK needs to be at least half of that amount. Because you will need to fight multiple opponents at once, and most will risk that 0.5s TTK in order to take Devs/Havoc down. However, if we decrease the TTK for HB that low, then soon you will see people complain about it being OP.
Hell, in Arma your aim devolves to shit by getting shot at from any gun. And it gets worse if you run out of stamina and take damage. And that's a successful series
Well, people against the idea of artificial suppression seem to think that in real life real bullets do nothing to affect your vision, while in fact the adrenalin rush alone will be more than enough to make you want to drop your gun.
Alright so I went a few rounds using the HB and it's damage against infantry is pretty terrible, which is probably why the suppression effect is so high. So yeah increase the damage, reduce the suppression and it'll become a more solid gun. Cause at this point all i keep thinking is, why would i want to suppress the enemy with HB instead of killing them with a Plasma Cannon?
What... That's not what adrenaline does. But this isn't real life and these are SUPPOSED TO BE fearless space marines and chaos zealots. Why in the f*ck are they feeling super duper suppressed when one random bullet flies from EITHER faction's Heavy Bolter????!!! Do you all even listen to yourselves or read before you even post your own crap? Seriously... It doesn't fit with this game and it doesn't fit with the lore. It flat out makes 0 sense in this game. If you notice though in the other games listed (and you can throw Insurgency in there as well which does a good job of combat from cover and suppression blur) you can still SHOOT BACK. Your aim doesn't go to 23537532% decrease because one Heavy Bolter shot landed 25m away from you from your own team. No, you actually get pretty good chance to return fire as you intuitively think you would. This game you can't even shoot a guy who walks up next to you while you are being suppressed. Its ridiculous. AND YOU'RE BEHIND FULL COVER TOO SO AGAIN IT MAKES EVEN LESS SENSE. If you stood up and got hit or the bullet came really close to you, MAYBE then... just maybe. But even still the blur is insane, ramps up waaaay too fast and causes much too severe accuracy penalties. From what I heard the Heavy Bolter was a lazer rifle when mounted. This game overall needs to work on each guns randomized cone of fire, but definitely make people fear a well placed mounted Heavy Bolter for a good reason other than a dumb forced suppression mechanic. Btw nobody actually liked Battlefield's forced suppression. A lot of players in game and on the forums thought it was stupid. And now because it was a successful game, every game dev thinks they need to copy everything they did.
Yeah i remember old battlefield. I stayed in cover because i didn't wanna get shot up. Maybe the passive they could add from suppresion could be hits decrease accuracy of person hit due to the force of the hit against armor delivering staggering kinetic force.
ARMA and RO2 did it too, and they're as realistic as games can get. So what's your freaking point? You want to shoot back while still being suppressed? Then what's the freaking point in me suppressing you anyway, suppression is about forcing ppl into cover and keep them pinned down. So unless you give HB the ability to 1 shot kill people, there is no way ppl will just stay in cover if they have the ability to shoot back, even right now there are players who will shoot back despite of suppression.
He's saying words like, "freaking" and he seems pretty upset... we should incorporate his opinion into the game guys... Super serial...
K I don't think I've ever seen someone miss the point so much as you. Please just stop. FPS games like Arma, BF, CoD, Insurgency, etc... Most of them if not all of them you can go prone behind cover. You will be slightly suppressed but you can take full cover and receive no damage and reduce the suppression feeling unlike this game. As well the suppression takes a bit more to build up and you still have time to fire a shot off before it comes at you. Your team can also 1 shot snipe a guy in the head from across the map in the shadows in those FPS games. Its just easier to get the guy off the MG in those games. *****IT ALSO JUST HAPPENS THAT IN THOSE GAMES THE BIG SCARY MG HITS LIKE A TRUCK AND FIRES 10x MORE ROUNDS PER SECOND AND NOBODY WANTS TO GET HIT BY IT FOR A REASON***** But you obviously knew that already.... This game has it all screwed up and backwards. Its supposed to be this fast paced 3rd person shooter (or so the devs claim) but at the same time they want cover and team work and tactics. Meanwhile the actual Heavy Bolter is a terrible weapon for dealing damage. You can be point blank in a guys face and he will kill you with his bolter or walk up and just melee you because the gun hits like a soft pillow. You also cannot turn with the target because I-don't-actually-know-why they just decided you should do everything super slow as Devastator. Hence why everyone is using the hilarious Plasma Cannon which can wipe out entire squads AND kill vehicles. So again, please. Wut in the actual f*ck are you getting at? Go back to square one. You think that the Heavy Bolter is fine? That the artificial suppression is perfect and everything is peachy? Cuz its not, its horrible alpha balanced and this crap needs to change or guess wut? Launch day will come and 1000's of players will go lolwtf? Artificial suppression and a "Heavy" Bolter that doesn't actually deal any damage. I can see that going over real well. Btw, the regular OP Bolter deals more damage, has better accuracy/recoil, and can shoot better at a range. I don't see anyone getting 'suppressed' by that shit.... If they're going to copy other games then make suppression for every gun because it makes literally ZERO sense on just one gun with baby damage/accuracy.
