I've noticed that the ET main page cinematic has been changed and got me thinking about the weapon tracers in this game. Are we still stuck with the ol' Planetside 2 laser beam tracers or have they changed them to tear drop tracers yet? Here's a video of PS2 before the laser beam incursion and am hoping that we'll see nice tracer effects in this game too. Especially during the night. I have to say, the Teardroptracers look really nice. But if PS2 couldn't keep them because of performance...
PS2 also had bullet physics on top of tear drop tracers to slow down performance, whereas EC is hitscan for most/all of its small arms, so I think given that, they could allow for some cooler looking visuals on the tracers.
Source? The patch note said "changed tracers to be more visible at night" or something along those lines. It didn't talk about performance, only visuals.
Fair enough. Mind you, that it didn't work for one game doesn't mean it can't for another. PS2 proves that itself by doing certain things that are difficult to pull off here. We'll see. I won't lose much sleep over it either way.
Yet they still have super detailed tank shells ingame... I'd like it if they made it optional to customize the tracer round graphic client side, one option for laser tracers, one on for tear drops. Many of us have stronk enough computers for it.
That's not exactly high detail, and those aren't being fired at nearly the rate of normal projectiles/walkers/basilisks etc. Besides - as to your second point, see the reddit post I linked.
