Have the devs stated anything about the Kannon, and if they plan to nerf it?

For the record, I'd like point out that a Grav gun should be as available as as Plasma or Melta. All 3 are special weapons and limited to 1 user per Tactical squad.

Other than that, the rest are Veteran only.

Previous lore stated that grav-guns were so rare that few outside of the Mechanicum were allowed to use them, and the Astartes Chapters that had them treated them like sacred relics. So while I can understand their inclusion in this game, it's hard to reconcile 10 marines all with grav weaponry coming at you here. I don't mind including special weapons, I just don't think they should be so prevalent as they are now.

From a lore PoV, all Special Weapons for all races should be more limited than they are, but that would cause balance problems of its own.

Hmmmm sadly this is true. Though I will say from an Ork perspective, we only actually get 2 viable Special weapons: the Rokkit Launcha and the Big Shoota. And in my experience, they're actually used pretty much lore-wise, with maybe 1 in 8 having one of those weapons. The other weapon, the 'Skip Launcha', is literally so useless that the only time an Ork player will use it is A) they just got it and are trying it out, or B) they're using it as a joke. Other than that, you will never see it in use.

True but statements like "Yes. We looked at the Kannon and we were surprised to find out it does 1,600 damage and has a huge blast radius." do not inspire confidence? You really don't know how yourown game works? Guess thats why the tooltips are still wrong for the MC Rokkit and both Kannons.

yeah weapons over performing because the LEAD GAME DESIGNER dosent know something as simple as that....

Actually a d bash and double snap head shot could kill melee prior to nerfs. Soooo not like the PC had no chance there.

It was likely probably an issue of having the wrong scaling type on its damage fall off.

They specifically mentioned in the dev stream that is used linear damage fall off, presumably this meant that the damage went from 1600 at a direct hit to maybe like 1200 at the outer edges or something stupid. Where as realistically it needed a logarithmic or some other sort of stronger scaling on its damage fall off.

When you consider tons of "smart" people have fucked things up my using the wrong units of measurement or misplacing a decimal point. Going "oh we used the wrong scaling type, oops" seems like a pretty natural and realistic fuckup.
Considering its also the only weapon in game that does high enough damage with a big enough AoE to likely require a special modifier on its damage fall off it could also just be an oversight where a designer assumes the damage falloff system will take care of it, and were a programmer just goes "well thats what they wanted lul" and could also easily just be a source of miscommunication (or lack of communication) on a finer detail that neither party realized was a real issue.

Or all the devs are just completely retarded, that seems good too :\

Be fair, Noah inherited the position as a fieldpromotion when Brent left a few weeks ago while beeing the designer who was buried in the itemmines for months and still doing that stuff ontop right now. As far as i know the vacant designer spot wasnt filled by a new recruit so the team in itself is 1 person short aswell. It is not really his fault, especially since he is a Spacewolf by heart so most likely little first hand experience with ork weaponary.
We have yet to see a real and fresh Noah vision/idea beyond fixing broken stuff and implementing long planned stuff or things "the game is supposed to do" from a producer point of view, like cash items and regular campaigns to keep the masses happy.
