Harlies (like the Daemons) are pretty much a faction in themselves and would probably be better rolled out later, if at all.
Eventhough I would love seeing Harlies in Eternal Crusade I don't think we will. According to fluff (unless it has changed) the most you would see is a single troupe in a battle and most Eldar could go an entire lifetime without ever seeing a troupe preform.
I think Eldar are going to be a minority of players, and the Harlequins, if implemented, probably a minority f that portion. So long as they're reasonably expensive I doubt you're going to see too many harlequins. Also, heck yes I wanna play Harlequins.
As a playable character is doesn't fit the lore, but to see them in action would be to cool to miss. Playing as a harlequin would be akin to playing as the Fabricator general or a Saint, no player could do the lore justice. I could see them as a npc in a PvE scenario i.e. fight your way down to a sorcerers sanctum only to discover the guys actually a demon prince and your all gonna die. In steps a troupe and kicks the demon bits all over the place.
I wouldn't be surprised if Harlequins are an NPC activation thing. The Harlequins themselves are not Craftworld Eldar. They live in their own "world".
nah--i think that harlequins could be hero classes-like people are talking about how chaplains and librarians will be.
I think you can't compare the two. Librarians and chaplains are part of the Space Marine army (Adeptus Astartes). Harlequins are in no way affiliated with any craftworld. They show up and fight whenever they feel like it because they've decided that it would benefit the Eldar race as a whole (includes the Dark Eldar - there is no difference to them). They are in both the Eldar Codex and Dark Eldar Codex, but they belong to neither. They answer to no one but their Troupe Master and he answers to the Laughing God. So the way this game is being built, massive campaigns, all-out battles, with 40K fluff as its guide... Harlequins would make no sense. I could see them in the battles yes, once in awhile and when they themselves have deemed it necessary (an upgrade/resource option that is NPC). They fight at momentous events and when they are most needed. You have to remember that Harlequins are rare and mysterious. There aren't too many of them. So seeing hundreds of them in a prolonged campaign makes no sense. If you want to compare the chaplains and librarians to someone then you need not go farther than warlocks and farseers. All that being said and fluff aside. I would love to play a Harlequin. I just hope they do it right.
I hope so! I love the Harlequin style, I hope there will at least be some armour sets with their style if no class is available.
Er?! Just NO!! Sorry but can't disagree enough with this. "QQ no harly's, I know i'll just put my fire dragon in a motley suit."
